Replacement of the Inner and outer Shift boot When I bought the bucket it did not have an inner or an outer shift boot. Replacing the inner shift boot is fairly obvious. There is a rectangular ring that surrounds the boot and holds it in place. The outer boot is soft vinyl, or leather and it slips over the gear stick. Mistake 1: I installed the center console after completing work on the center console area and everything that is involved with that like the vinyl over the trans. tunnel, choke control, fuse box lid, indicators, radio etc. It turns out to install the outer shift boot you must remove the center console so that you can press the spring clips…

Folks, bored last night got nothing else todo, while waiting for parts for other stuff. my rear mirror’s mounting/base point is broken in few pieces and missing big chunk as well. Only if I have access to CNC or a 3D printer... what the fun in it? what I did was common sense I suppose. Super glue all the remaining pieces together. create a paper template. find a scrap piece of metal. Mine is very thin. Perhaps 24 gauge. trace the template and start snipping it. a press, sharp flat chisel might be better for the center opening. File it as best as you can. It’s hidden inside so long no obstruction w…

preface: I am working on the restoration of a 73 240z. A mentor of mine used to say “The enemy of good is better”. I adopted this saying but often times I unfortunately ignore it. Our car “the bucket” has what I believe is its original center console. It has a single slot on the driver’s side for the choke control. At some time in the past the original choke control arm and bracket were replaced with a generic pull out handle and cable mounted where the cigarette lighter would normally be located. It worked well enough with the previous owner’s conversion to a Holey 4 barrel. I returned the car to a dual SU setup. The choke reminder lamp was also replace…

So I have been looking for some new interior trim for my 1977 Z and I have noticed that the trim doesn't seem to be the most plentiful. So my question is what is the difference between 74-76 and 77-78 trim? Can I put 74-76 trim into my 77? Or what are the differences that makes it so I can't?

I am interested in creating the clear vinyl seat protectors for the later model seats. Per my research, the Type 2 seat was used for the post-1971 240Z, 260Z, and 280Z. I have attached a photo of the protectors that I believe are appropriate for the 1972 240Z. According to the parts manual, the reclining bracket part numbers 86470-E8800 (left) 87470-E8800 (right) - outboard and 87480-N4500 (left) and 86480-N4500 (right) - inboard were used for post-1971 240Z thru June 1976. I need confirmation what location(s) the seat protectors show below are configured to fit. Thanks for your help. Keith

Hi All, ('72 240Z) My seat belt buzzer won't sop buzzing with ignition on and only the driver on board. It does not buzz when in neutral. Where is the problem likely occurring? What should I check, and in what order? Could the issue be under the passenger seat? Thanks!

I'm interested in selling this clock that has been stored in a box in my garage for several years. The buyer is asking me if it works. I'd like to test it. Can I simply attach leads to a 12V battery and apply the positive lead to the blue pin on the connector and apply the negative lead to the black pin to see if it operates? The face of the clock is labeled "quartz", so I think it's from a later model classic Z. Thanks!

https://www.walmart.com/ip/SHARP-Quartz-Analog-Alarm-Clock-in-Black/20554638 Rip the motor and battery casing out (will require brief plastic sawing for the battery casing) and cram it in behind the original faceplate (it will fit in the can with a little finagling). Just did it and looks awesome.

Not too sure if this is a body issue or an interior question but it's a little of both. Anyone got measurements and or pictures of the mounting brackets on the inner quarter panel for the evap canister? Helping a buddy out and can't seem to get the interior panels to line up, worried the evap canister be a bit crooked from some earlier repairs. Not to sure how to go about getting this measurement, maybe the height off the floor or depth from the quarter. Even some pics of a properly mounted canister from a car that's not all the way together would be nice. Got a bazillion pics from my rebuild but none of the great smelly can.?

I know there are new ones available but being budget minded, I would like to refurbish the ones that came with the car originally. Both are in decent shape after a good cleaning with some Scotchbrite and small brush. Just the expected slight pitting in a few spots but I would like to improve their looks. Can they be painted? Not sure about buffing them out to get some of the shine back. Suggestions appreciated. Thanks, John-Lugoff, SC.
