Hi All,I am hoping for some help/advice on an issue with my 260Z's window. Since buying the drivers side window was quite stiff to wind up/down but i thought it was just because of its age. The other day however as winding up there was a loud 'pop' at which point the window dropped and had come off of its guides.I took the window and regulator out, cleaned and re-greased and reassembled however it is now just as stiff and wont go all the way up as seems misaligned. I have attempted to adjust it using the front sash and rear guide however can not get it to sit right.I am starting to think the regulator itself may be damaged as it appear to be fouling on itself.Does anyone …

Several months ago, I ran across cardboard (?) caps that fit over the rear strut towers. They fit under the diamond vinyl. The intent was to form a flat surface for the diamond vinyl to lay on. They came that way from the factory. I have an earlier car that didn't come with those but I was positive that I saw them at a zcar parts store somewhere. I am sure I saw them but I cannot find them anywhere. Does anyone know where they can be bought? I would like to avoid trying to make something. I suspect the vinyl install wont look good when I am finished based on how I have seen the other results. So the less variables I can introduce, the better I should be. Tha…

My driver's side door handle is pulling loose from the door. The metal plate embedded in the handle and used to connect it to the door panel is starting to pull away from body of the vinyl handle. Does anyone know how to repair this problem? I have some handles that I can practice on, but I don't know how I should approach it. -Dann

I have an MSA carpet in the hatch area. The back edge is up against the two rear luggage strap mounts, and this forces the carpet forward, leaving a bulge in the middle. The carpet is too long. Should there be, or should I cut notches in the rear edge of the carpet to make room for the mounts, or should I punch through the carpet and screw the mounts down on top of the carpet? Thanks

I have a late year 260 and I'm changing the interior from tan to black. I found a guy a few hours from me with door panels; all the plastic trim; and the vinyl out of an early year 260. Will i be able to use the door panels and the plastics? I heard the rear shock towers were taller in the late year cars and that seems like it would affect the trim and maybe the vinyl. Any help is appreciated!

240z Seat Strapping 1 2 3

Is the seat strapping(straps that support the bottom cushion) on 240z seats supposed to be really tight? or is it supposed to have some play in it? I just had the driver's seat in my 240z reupholstered and the original strapping was completely intact, so I just added the strap that goes horizontally beneath the diagonal strapping. The original black strapping is a little bit loose and I'm wondering if I should have tightened it.

So, I have two 240Zs in the garage. One is a January 1971 (with everything on a 1970) and the other is a February 1971. The seats in the 1/71 seem to have been reupholstered at some point and have some hand cut, cheesy clear plastic between the upholstery and the seat back brackets. I see on the 2/71 that the plastic is thicker and precisely cut, fitting perfectly under the brackets such that I think that these are original. My question, to those with original 1970 240Z seats, are these plastic protectors used on the 1970 year? Or, is this just a 1971 onwards improvement?
