240z Seat Strapping 1 2 3

Is the seat strapping(straps that support the bottom cushion) on 240z seats supposed to be really tight? or is it supposed to have some play in it? I just had the driver's seat in my 240z reupholstered and the original strapping was completely intact, so I just added the strap that goes horizontally beneath the diagonal strapping. The original black strapping is a little bit loose and I'm wondering if I should have tightened it.

So, I have two 240Zs in the garage. One is a January 1971 (with everything on a 1970) and the other is a February 1971. The seats in the 1/71 seem to have been reupholstered at some point and have some hand cut, cheesy clear plastic between the upholstery and the seat back brackets. I see on the 2/71 that the plastic is thicker and precisely cut, fitting perfectly under the brackets such that I think that these are original. My question, to those with original 1970 240Z seats, are these plastic protectors used on the 1970 year? Or, is this just a 1971 onwards improvement?

I have a Jan/1971 240Z that the previous owner recovered the seats and removed the seatbelt hooks. What size is the screw that attaches the hook to the side of the seat? If anyone with an original could post up a photo that would be great. I went to the hardware store and picked up some #6 and #8 sized screws. Both work, but I can't tell from pictures online which is closer to original.

I refreshed my 8/70 240 20 years ago. For some reason I did not replace all the jute padding. But, I did safely store it all these years. Now my challenge is determining where everything goes. I think the two pieces on the left and right are under the passenger's feet. The other three in the middle, I really don't know where to begin. Finally, there is piece of black cardboard with some "insulation" on the back. Does that belong on the driver's side? Thanks

Hi guys, Any idea if the rubber grommet for the dome light switch (the switch mounted in front of the door) is still available somewhere? The one on my driver's side door crumbled when I went to change the dead switch out and am having difficulty finding a new grommet online. -chase

I need sixteen (16) Datsun 240Z seat strap metal clips. Does anyone have a resource to share? (Zeddsaver will have some stainless steel ones soon, but I prefer to continue on with my project in the next couple of weeks.) Thanks for the referrals. Keith

Hi guys, Having a tough time figuring out how to center the HVAC selector trim piece. As you can see from the image, the trim piece is not centered within the vent panel frame once bolted in. If I forcibly center it by pushing the piece right, it will turn the fan on - so basically I'm in the situation of always having the fan on low or having the panel be off-center. Any ideas? -chase

Hey all, I am looking for the best options for 4 point roll bars in the United States. I am using a donor dash for the metal frame so I can understand how best to install without having to tear apart my car. So let start with removing the old dash pad, there are 21 sheet metal screws that attach to hard points and a few other sheet metal screws that while not actually affixed to the pad, the do stick up into the foam. these should be removed so as not to impede the process. I was able to get19 of the 21 back in, the other two holes I was not able to locate, will have to deal with them after I pull the pad off the donor frame.

Hey guys trying to figure out the correct strut for my 70z. In the pics below the bottom strut is what came with me Z. The Z specialist that i've been going to, told me its too long for the hatch and temporally put one from a 280z on. He stated they are all the same. Since then i've bought a replacement the middle strut not knowing i need hardware also because the hardware i have doesn't work with the forked connector. In searching around for hardware I bought a cheap non functional 280z strut ( top one )for the hardware then found out the bottom bolt is welded in. On searching i came across this from ZCarDepot https://zcardepot.com/products/hatch-shock-tailgate-str…
