Would it be advisable to get a 6 point harness with stock seats? According to the FIA, the shoulder straps have to rest on the seat flat, which the Z seats aren't designed for. Obviously, this includes a roll cage, don't worry. But, I would like to maximize my safety, hence the harness and cage. Would it be safe to mount a 6 point harness onto the stock seats? Could I just mount the anchor points right behind the seat, reducing the chance that they will even be resting on the seat? My other option is braum leather seats, that match pretty closely to the stock leather seats, both in color and style. Thank you!

I have scoured the internet and forums to find where I might be able to find matching brown leather, for my 206z, to no avail. I am looking for a source where I can find a few yards of matching brown leather for custom dash upholstery. I'm aware that I could just ask an upholsterer to find the best samples that match the car, but that could take weeks. So, I thought I might ask if anyone here knows a place. Thank you!

Can any body tell me how the shoulder strap clip (cheasy little plastic clip) mounts to the interior? Is it just a screw into the plastic side window frame panel or is there a threaded hole in the side widow frame? I have poked around in the hole in the plastic side window frame but haven't been able to locate a hole in the window frame itself. I find it hard to believe that it would just screw into the plastic. I need to find a solution to the belt cutting into my wife's neck! Happy wife = more money to spend on the Z :)

Hey, I know there was a post around here about how to restore and refinish a 240Z steering wheel, but for the life of me I cannot find it. I was able to find this link but I could have swore that there was another thread with pics. I just bought another steering wheel from ebay, and wanted to refinish it.

My '86 300zx leaks at the upper right corner driver door. The OEM weatherstrip parts are discontinued. Anyone know how to repair/replace these parts?

Anyone making the base that the rear view mirror clips into? Mine is all cracked up and I am sure it is pretty common for them to crack. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Howdy, I just wanted to share this super cool shift knob that @Captain Obvious finished for me last week. I wanted to repurpose my skateboard that I was using in high school after seeing these cool 917 shifters online. The Captain took the time to take the sections cut and glued, and shaped it to be just like the OEM shifter. He even was able to replicate the lower plastic portion out of aluminum as a final touch. We decided the correct thing would be to increase the diameter slightly due to having larger hands. With the small increase, I don't feel my pinky hit my palm like the OEM one does. I'd show it inside the car but I pulled off the interior to install…

I have a '71 240Z (4/71 build date) and while replacing the original (deteriorated) cork gasket on the rear deck lid interior panel (vinyl panel over press board held in by 10 fasteners) I noticed that there were two different types of mounting hardware being used as shown in the picture. About half were the typical plastic rivets while the other half were a captive sheet metal screw and washer that used a u-style spring nut. I've looked at some of the exploded parts diagrams and it appears that there were a number of different methods used to mount the panel based on the model year. Does anyone know what the correct method was for a late '71 series car?

I'm re-installing my re-furbished stock radio, but the way the factory mounted it has eluded me. I believe the radio goes in before the HVAC bezel, levers and cables, but I don't see how the radio is secured in place. There are threaded holes on each side of the radio but no bracket of any kind to support the radio. Am I missing something?

Guys, My 72 Z does not have retractable shoulder seat belt straps, but instead has a "J" hook on the interior dog leg panel right below quarter glass. How does the shoulder strap attach to the "J" hook? Should there be an attachment on the shoulder strap that mates with the "J" hook? Or does the strap itself rest in the "J" hook? Thanks, David

I couldn't find a thread on this subject, so I started one. For the future reference of others who, like me, live in a area where obscure metric bolts and taps are difficult to find, the bolts for the seat belts on a 1971 240Z are a rather unusual size. They are M11 x 1.25. Some of the bolt holes had some dammaged threads. Bolts would go in just a little hard, but when they came back out the threads were rounded off. I tried the old trick of trying to clean the threads with a bolt by cutting a grove in the threads to make it look like a tap, but it didn't work. So I searched for most of the day for a local (Within a 50 mile radius) supplier of a tap in the size mentioned…
