Many years ago, the knob that goes on the seat slider handle in my 260Z broke. I had seen parts on FB from a place called The Unobtanium, and I found they sold their parts on ebay. I decided to get a replacement knob from them. https://www.ebay.com/itm/386245878688 Compared to the aluminum knobs sold by MSA, I figured it was worth the money to get the plastic knob. The new knob is a dull finish compared to the ones installed in the 73 (and in the 74). I think some of the 3D printing artifacts are visible, too. I had to heat it up slightly to slide on. While it may not look original, it's much better than no knob. To me it was worth the money. If…

Hey, I've got a 73 240z and after doing some spelunking it turns out the previous owner had the rear MSA speakerbox setup in the car, and at some point they removed it, and just left the speaker wire in the back. I want to install a pair of speakers in the back, and like the cleaner look of mounting them behind the interior panels with matching mounts on each side, similar to how the original speaker was mounted, but was curious if anyone had any experience on what the sound quality of the speaker behind the panel was like? I can't imagine it's particularly great, but wanted to check. If that doesn't work, I'll probably move forward with fabricating my own speak…

So I am going to start a leather interior trim thread. I bought the pieces from Interior Innovations and thought it might be helpful to document how I went about the install So I've been procrastinating on this a little bit. The factory vinyl laps up onto the luggage panel a little bit, I believe. I thought that would be hard to do with the leather thickness. Also it really needed to be shifted as far forward as possible to line up well with the parking brake and get under the fire wall mat. There was one set of marks for the seat rib. I will cut these nice and close later I put the original console in the car. It won't be the…

The dashboard in my car had some serious cracks along the top but I couldn't pull the trigger to send it off for rework because of the cost. I wanted to try to repair it somehow though, I had to try something! Here's a few pictures of the cracks. Because of the limit on pictures in each post, I'll upload the balance of the pictures and the materials used after this. Bruce

Trying to figure out if anyone has done this. I want to move the new seat belts to the towers if possible. I don't see how or if I can access the underside of the outer strut tower area where the seat belt reels attach on the 77-78 MY. It looks like that is a closed off area. Pic courtesy of CO My wheel arch - don't recall there being a way to reach into the outer section from below

Hey guys, I am rewebbing my seatbelt and ran into a problem For the life of me I can't get the new webbing through the small slot that is available. Is this thing supposed to disassemble further before I put the webbing in, or does anyone have experience on how to do this? I have tried tying twine to the belt and feeding it through the mechanism. Then I would tug on the twine to pull the belt through, but I still can't seem to do it. It is just too tight to get the belt to feed in that tight of a circle. I found this @Captain Obvious , but unfortunately, pictures are no longer available. I have pulled off the plastic pieces, but my latch mechanism works …

Anyone else order the 280z dash? Hope so see it soon ordered 5 weeks ago, think it was 6-8 weeks for delivery IIRC. When I get it will take some pics, maybe do an install video. My OE dash is in pretty good shape just one big crack near the center starting from behind the clock nacelle, but the new dash was too hard to pass on.

I started looking at my original firewall insulation, and unfortunately, one of the three pieces (right side) is in rather poor condition. I found myself searching for options, looking at what others have done. I found a few posts about the carpet snaps/posts, but not much about anyone who has found suitable materials to reproduce the look of the factory firewall insulation. I like the look of mass loaded vinyl in pictures I have seen, such as this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/373136954065 I have found by reading descriptions that "1 lb" mass loaded vinyl equates to 1/8" thickness. I think that is close to what the original material thicknes…

Hi everybody, i'm currently restoring a total wreck of a 240Z and i'm slowing down and it's getting me down. So something I can do now is replace the seat covers and foam which have had rats living on them for over 20years! I looked on the other threads but could find a discussion specific to the quality of the companies now supplying these kind of reproductions. So advice is gladly accepted hahaha. Thanks for your time everyone and hopefully i won't be the only person to gain from the answers! Matt

Took the driver's door apart today to change the door glass channel. I already knew the door panel was a problem, and that something funky was up with the inner release handle. As far a I can see, the only rubber in the door is the glass guide & the rear molded seal, (front outer seal I've already done) which I have coming tomorrow. First problem was that the window crank was epoxied to the winder Botch repairs here Release plate is cracked & distorted. release rod for outer handle is also a problem. I'll weld the rod. release plate straightened out - have to weld the stress crack & rei…

I'm looking for some suggestions to buy or make seatbelt extensions for my 73 240Z. I'm looking for something like the airlines use that have the buckle on one end and the male tab on the other end. I would like to be able to attach it to the inner side of the belt (the trans tunnel side) when needed. I don't really want to replace the original belts. I would like to get a pre-made ones, (again like the airlines use) or if I can find tabs and buckles that would work with the factory belts, I can have them made. Anyone know components that would work on the factory belts or have any suggestions to resolve the issue? Thanks
