Just finishing up my leather seats from Interior Innovations. I acquired some 1977 280Z seats so I could have the full forward tilt control, the springs in the 77 seat bottoms is also a nice upgrade from the straps in the 71 seat bottoms. I think it raises you in the car by an inch or so with the new foam and 77 seats. A comment on the seat cover bottoms. They come with a cotton cord as a draw string. I was concerned that the cotton would stretch and would probably break under the constant pulling over time. My friend helped me pull wire through the channel where the cord was. This is much more like the way Datsun did the seat covers and I believe will hold up better over…

Does anyone know the specs to the 4 black screws that hold the heater panel in place. I believe they are M4 maybe? I tried the dealer but not to my surprise it was discontinued. Thanks!

I saw this come up on social media and thought it would be appropriate to document here. The question was asked "Okay; I try to search through posts and comments to find my answers; but I've tried to find this.... can anyone tell me what the four threaded holes are designed for on the inner quarter, right behind the door opening?" Answer from @HS30-H, "Nothing to do with harness bars or harness attachments. They are the side mount hard points for the factory 'Safety Bar'/roll-over bar kit." Photo of the holes: And a pic showing the mount in use as intended:

For a 1978 280z Like title says.. are these OEM? I had one snap off and need to replace. I can't seem to find these anywhere. The ones that MSA or others sell are black and have a Z logo on them.

Worked on rebuilding the 78 280z seats for local club member Scott M. on and off this winter. Finalized them today. Phew.... glad they are done. The leather covers are from Interior Innovations, new foams were from Classic Datsun. Ran into an issue with the closure of the seat backs... The material was about 1 1/2" too short to make it close properly over the tangs in the bottom of the seat backs. Either the manufacturer screwed up the length, or the 78 seat back frames grew and got longer. Tried every trick in the book to overcome the issue, finally had an upholstery shop sew in a extension to the leather at the seam where the reinforcement is. Wor…

A quick search didn’t find any previous mention of Ridies but they look like a possible resource for interior pieces: https://ridies.com/Product/26040/1970-1978-Datsun-240Z-260Z-280Z-Genuine-Leather-Seat-Covers

Just received a pair of interior quarter panels from Z Car Source for my '71 240. Problem is that they're about 3/16" too tall as measured against the originals. Not wanting to go through the hoops and expense of returning them - I'm in Canada - I'm going to try to make them work, and am wondering if anyone else has had this issue? I could cut a strip off the top (the bottom has the rivet holes), but they seem quite light and fragile. How much cutting or bending with a heat gun can a guy get away with? Any thoughts or experiences would be appreciated. Richard

bought some jute from Mac's used the old beat up jute as a pattern. the little rubber heel guard was shot so I just cut up a junk yard mat for now. I have found that hook of hook and loop grabs the carpet very well so I will end up getting some replacement rubber that is a better fit. The OE carpet had it sewn on. The rubber backing on the carpet is about 20% gone, the plan is to try some plasti dip spray to add back the missing rubber backing.

Hi everyone: I thought my speedometer was broken so I removed it from the dash in anticipation of having it sent out for repair. I spun the drive shaft on the back of the gauge and it worked perfectly. So I thought maybe the speedometer cable was broken and I tested by spinning it and it and saw the other end spin just fine. I then realized that the square shaped head that goes into the slot on the back of the gauge was actually not long enough slot into the back of the gauge. I tried pulling on it with needle nose pliers but I can't get the cable to extend out any further. It's a steel cable so I don't think it shrunk any. I can't think of any other any other w…

I am working with Z Car Source to get me a new carpet set. I have the side skirts and the rear deck but I need all other components so they can replicate them. Does anyone have an original used set in decent condition that i can purchase so they can use it as a template? I have a '75 Fairlady Z 2+2 and i will have the sides reversed of course. I am keeping the diamond vinyl on the tunnel so basically i only need the front floor mats, under the seat section and rear floor.
