my attempt at refurbished horn button. It had several raised bumps like inverted pits in the black area, and the chromed lettering and border were in not so good shape.

The paint on my stock front left and right speaker panel is pretty worn. Is it worth painting it in black matte spray and installing them again?

Fellas just wondering why so many choose to use sound dampening/Insulation and plush/heavy carpet in their Z's? I have recently aquired my 1st Z, a 1978 280 and I'm trying to lighten up my interior but to my surprise there are no lightweight carpet alternatives. I have owned many early Porsche 911's and most Porsche owners look for ways to lighten up there cars by removing all sound dampening material and replacing heavy plush carpeting with light weight alternatives or deleting the carpet all together. I understand the noise would increase in the cab but to be honest I would think most would love it! Hell I've even removed my a/c, factory radio/all speakers from my…

I stopped by motorsport auto today and picked up a replacement strut for the hatch on my 1970 240Z. When I opened it at home I realized it was different from the original strut in how it attaches to the car. At first I thought they gave me the wrong one, but now I think this is their suggested replacement. The original used a simple bolt and nut where it attaches to the body and a pressed pin to attach a “wishbone” to a bracket on the decklid. The new one uses a ball and socket connection on both sides. I assume it will work fine, but I am a little concerned about the extra torque it will put on the brackets - especially the one attached to the door opening, which alr…

does anyone have any pictures of the rear seats folded in a 260z / 280z? I want to know how much storage space is available when you fold the rear seats. Thanks!

I need to replace my speedometer cable. Has anyone done it without removal of tachometer and dash cap? Because the speedo and tach come out the front of the dash I would have to remove the full face dash cap I have. I know its easier to get to the speedo with the tach out. I'm just wondering if I can access it by laying on my back, reaching up into the back of speedo to disconnect the cable without the removal of anything?

I bought a vinyl kit and the tunnel piece does not seem fit well. I am not sure if I missing something or maybe it's built wrong. But the slot for console fastening is in the wrong location. I could adjust but the slot would appear that it would show. Or does the console cover it regardless? Are there some post on this site with the order that the pieces go in? One problem I'm about to attack on our new '72 240Z is that the driver's seatback is "loose". When you sit in the seat, the seatback will flex back another 10-15 degrees when you lean on it. The result is that the seating position is too far reclined, even in the most upright position. The seat adjuster lever and "ratchet" mechanism seem to work fine. The flex is coming from the structure of the seat somehow. the seat is somehow pivoting in the hinge area and the I'll have to pull the seat out and maybe remove the seat cover to see what's going on. We are brand new to the Z. Is this a common issue and does anybody have advice as to what to look for first? Than…

I recently blew an interior heater hose, and while under the dash, I thought it would be prudent to look at the heater core and valve at the same time. Core is ok, and the control valve is not leaking. The lever on the valve can be moved relatively easily. The issue I have is the dash hot/cold lever is very stiff to move... Possibly corrosion btwn actuator rod and cable housing? I have tried penetrating fluid with rod/cable still installed wit Not Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile
