I have following the series on YouTube for some time. They concentrate on muscle cars, but this episode will be helpful to many of our Z owners.

Does anyone know the paint color code for the dark brown interior in a 77 280Z? I've done some repairs to some of the trim panels and would like to paint them.

Hi everyone: I’m installing my seatbelts and the shoulder belt portion is fine. However the side with the release latch I can’t figure out how to attach this. I thought initially the bolt hole would be on the transmission tunnel but then I see this attachment point. If I try to attach it so that the receptacle is pointing forward (between the tunnel and the car seat) it’s impossible to get a secure connection. There is a curve in the body that doesn’t allow the seatbelt attachment point to lay flat. If I orient the belt so that the attachment point lines up perfect, then the belt is basically pointing towards the back of the car versus forward. …

I have a 240Z 1/1970 and I want to replace the carpet (that I made) with the MSA black carpet. My car originally did not have those tool doors that open up towards the hatch like the '71 cars do but I obtained a couple from a parts car and installed them. If I put carpet in my early car intended for the later 240Z will it fit okay? I am considering the later carpet because I know it will work with the tool doors I put in. Thanks for any ideas. Mike

Earlier post re: open space in dash molding on 1977280. Replies did confirm this open area as the place for a dash mounting screw. That being confirmed as the reason for the cutout, I still have doubts about that cutout area not being covered in some way. It looks too obvious/unfinished...even for a series l ?. Wasn’t there some type of plastic cover (molded plastic insert?) to fill space after dash screw installed... press on/pop open cover for access ?? I could paint that area black to reduce contrast of the original body paint color behind dash and visible in this cut out area....I just can’t believe it wasn’t a covered access. Trying not to obsess but it is so …

Anybody have any ingenious ways to fix this without replacing the console? '72 240Z, I've taken the ashtray out and slide the cover open to hold it steady with my hand for now. One of those plastic screw holders have broken. Thanks for any ideas.

The early Z's used a simple vinyl covering on the A-pillars, but in 77 they switched to a screw retained plastic trim A-pillar cover. Well Datsun must have messed up some dimension somewhere because the plastic trim covers often crack due to the stress of tightening the screws. On my right hand side, I had one of the screws pull through. Cracked the plastic mounting hole clean off. My first attempt to remedy the situation was to simply buy another used pair somewhere off some forum. Unfortunately, the donor pair I bought not only had the same problem, but it was even the same screw, same location. This meant that I couldn't even use one side from my original pair, a…

I've replaced the weatherstripping for the quarter window but to me it looks like there is something missing between the interior trim and the frame of the window. It's a few years since I removed the windows so dont remember how it should be?

The front mats come without the slots cut for the securing hooks in the floor pan to go through. They're easy enough to cut myself but should I take them to an upholstery shop to edge stitch after cutting or is there a DIY trick that will work? Also the included firewall snap fasteners don't seem to be the same size as the original or do they need a little more initial force to mate?

On the '72 240z I just bought the steering wheel spokes are silver, looks like its paint (Someones gone crazy with silver paint under the bonnet also, airfilter cover, front grill, oil cap, brake fluid caps). They are supposed to be matt black aren't they. Also the clear coat varnish on the "wood" is peeling off. Anyone got any tips on fixing up the steering wheel. And the Datsun 240z badge on the glovebox, is the lettering supposed to be painted white?

My JVC CD receiver shorted out over the winter when the heavy winter dews got inside- I should've brought it in the house for storage. So I went to BestBuy to see what's available, and the current CD receivers basic are of two types- Bluetooth and "Media." The bluetooth ones connect to your "phone" which I don't have, so it won't help me. I do have a tablet for navigation, and if I could feed the audio instructions from the tablet to the receiver while driving, that would help. The "Media" units have one or two USB ports where you connect flashdrive, or an Android or IOS device for access to the music on the device, or to control (?) the receiver. Most uni…
