My '72 had never had a rear deck lid pannel, I'm going to make one up and cover it with white vinyl to match my interior. I was planning on using some 1/4" press board, but was wondering how thick the original was and what kind of material was used on the OEM? Thanks, Steve

I removed the blue interior panels in the 70 and plan to dye them with SEM or custom mix vinyl/plastic part paint. I noticed that the interior vinyl is an "Ice" metallic or pearl looking blue, but the back of the plastic panels look to be a solid blue. Were the plastic panels solid blue or were the fronts painted to match the pearl look?

Hey guys! So after my restoration I've been getting a lot of squeaking and creaking from the rear plastic panels of my 280z. Usually its the worst when the car flexes a little (Like backing out at an angle over a driveway). The rear quarters and the rear headliner piece mostly. Has anyone found a good remedy for this? I was thinking of taking the pieces off and glueing some sort of felt or thin foam strip where they make contact.

(I tried to start this from the mobile app, but auto-correct didn't help, and something went wrong with the photos, so starting over with a better thread title). I have a 12/70 240Z. Exterior is blue 803. Interior is black. (although, there is a question about what it originally was). The interior has had I think 2 refresh passes at it in the past, with POs. It looks like it maybe first got some brown shag carpet, then later, black carpet. The seats are series 2 seats (I think): they have the lever that allows seat tilt; they do not have the twist mechanism; they have wire, not webbing below. The original stereo is gone of course, there is a Blaupunck that powers up…

I have a 1/1970 240Z that I recently bought. The car had 3 previous owners, first two being the long-term owners. These folks did a lot of work to the car over the time they owned it. The first owner had the car re-upholstered around 1980 (hmm, that didn't last long!). The second owner had the car up on a rotisserie for restore/repainting. Which is great, because they seem to have done a great job on rust. Also, the headliner is nice and firm. But there are some unoriginal elements to this car: rebuilt, non-matching L24 most of the original vinyl is gone, replaced by carpet (even on the tunnel). all/most of the original jute material is gone. sometimes,…

I'm simply trying to re-attach about 10" of the bottom edge of my cover which has come loose from the back and hangs down. I haven't found a consensus on the best adhesive to use on the vinyl panel cover. The current discussion on headliner adhesive is interesting and it seems like the 3M stuff would work. I've tried a generic contact cement which didn't work and a general glue that my wife uses for crafty type things. I'm trying to be careful because I don't want something too powerful where removal would destroy the hardboard on some future day when the cover needs replaced. It'd also be nice to not need to buy a tub of the stuff when I'm only dealing with …

Hi All, I recently acquired a 1970 240Z. It's in great shape for the most part, but there are a few things I want to work on in the interior. The car came with lap-only belts (as you would expect from a 1970 Z). I prefer not to put my head through the wooden steering wheel, so I am looking to install a 3 point harness. Oddly enough, there is already a shoulder mounting 3rd point on the car, but not used. I guess a PO wanted it to look more original, and took out that seat belt. I wish they hadn't taken out the original mounting bolts, and replaced them with regular bolts you'd get at a hardware store, but... Anyway, I'm ordering a replacement, and need some adv…

Are the MSA 3 point retractable seat belts considered a perfect bolt in replacement for my original and worn seat belts used on my 1972 240z? Once i install these seat belts will i still be able to use the receiver of the original seat belt? Still trying to figure out how to actívate the seat belt light on the dashboard!

Is there one? Saw the Retrosound at MSA site. It says it's got USB connection but doesn't say if it plays from that or needs an external player. If not is there a different one that fits the car and plays MP3's ? It also should have power antenna hook-up.

WTB one of the original style knurled plastic knobs that turns to "recline" early style Series 1 seat backs. Fits over a round plastic base and seat on a large nut, so the knob turns the nut, which dials in a bit of "rake" to the seat back angle. Anyone have one to part with?
