I tried searching, because I presumed this should have been discussed several times. I tried a test panel with some BBQ grill paint, but that soaks up oil from your fingers and would look really bad in a car. Is there such a thing for a vinyl dash in black? I want it to be absolutely flat, without any sheen at all. I suppose the Florida or Arizona owners would know this well. The local AP stores only have VHT in "wrinkle" which is still a satin finish, or they have no idea what a flat anti-glare paint is.

I am reconditioning all of the ducting and am curious why the ducting for the front vent uses foam weatherstripping on the inside . I do not see how this is useful. Anybody know the reasoning for it. See picture.

The radio antenna quit working last month. I'm getting a new radio as soon as I have time and they'll put a new antenna that works with the radio. So don't want to spend time and money to fix the stock one. Just want to be able to pull it up and push it down by hand for now. Seems like it should be easy but maybe not, so asking since it's not so easy removing and reinstalling that interior plastic panel. It's stuck in the down position, don't want to force it and break something.

I just purchased a TYC blower assembly to replace my original assembly. However when I compared it to the original the fan impeller blades are facing the wrong direction (see photo: original is on left and new on the right). Does anyone know if you can replace the fan impeller with the proper facing blades. If not, do you happen to know if TYC makes the same blower assembly with the correct impeller.

So I've been removing the radio that my previous owner put in and as part of that removal process, I have turned up what look to be the original pair of wires for the stock speaker below the rear quarter window on the passenger side. However, I did not turn up a pair of similar wires on the driver's side. Went to the FSM and it appears that there was only one speaker on the original radio system, and it was on the pass side. Is that correct? Interesting though... I've got symmetric factory mounting holes in the body on both sides. Just below the quarter windows for speakers on each side, but at the factory, they only ever populated one of them? They never put a speaker on…

So I decided to clean-up my centre console. At one point in the past, the choke bracket, mounting screw receptacles in the underside of the console cracked. The owner decided to mount the choke to the console, by drilling two holes and bolting the choke bracket through the top of the console. Also at one point, my car had dealer installed Aircon which had a control mounted on the centre console, just aft of the gear shift. This control housing covered the heads of the bolts securing the choke bracket. I wanted to remove the Aircon control housing as I've never had Aircon installed, the housing was cracked and I wanted to clean-up my console. After lookin…

When I bought my '72 240z it came with AMCO floor mats, which have the letters "240Z" inside of a circle molded into the mats. I bought the car from the original owner and in some of the paper work I received from him there was an original 1972 Datsun accessories brochure. This brochure shows these mats as a dealer option for 1972, so he must have bought them when he purchased the car. I recently bought a second pair of AMCO mats on eBay and they have just the letter "Z" in the circle. Does anyone know anything about these mats? Are these from a different year? I have attached pictures below.

Can anyone recommend a company that reforms the covering over an existing dash? I have two dashes with minor issues that I believe might be worth a restoration. Thanks Jerry Purcell

I just trailered home a 1978 black pearl 280Z that was bought new by my cousin. She drove it for 20 years and took fantastic care of it but it's still a 40 yr old car and the carpet is really badly faded. It also has that 'old car smell' that I'd like to address as well. When I brought it home I thought the carpet was tan/light brown it's faded so much but it looks like it was originally black. On the one hand, a black car with an all-black interior is kind of 'blah' but that was the original color... any reason not to change it to grey or something lighter? Who are the best/preferred carpet sellers for these cars? i'd like it to fit nicely and not requir…

I have my turn signal switch dismantled to clean the contacts. I wound up removing some paint from the arm while cleaning it and thought it would look good polished ( I think I saw that 240Z Upgrades does this? ) but I'll just repaint if it will wind up rusting.

I'm considering these for my Z: https://www.interior-innovations.com/index.php/welcome/product_detail/187 I ordered the seat covers and shift boot from them and am very happy with the quality, so I assume the door panels would be equally good. The price definitely is. Before ordering, some questions: Has anyone ordered a set and can comment on them? They're titled as 260Z, but should fit a 280, right? I got white stitching on my seat covers. I'm thinking about having matching stitching on the door panels but can't make a decision on what to do. (Maybe just around in the center panel and not on the diagonal slats?) This one's a matter of taste, but…

Has anyone used these or know anything about them? http://www.ebay.com/itm/BLACK-LEATHER-2X-DOOR-CARD-LEATHER-SKIN-COVER-FITS-DATSUN-240Z-260Z-280Z-/231398294528?hash=item35e069c400&vxp=mtr Considering the price of new door cards or even vinyl skins these look like a bargain.
