Just finished my '78 280Z and I'm loving driving it except for the terrible creaking coming from almost all the interior plastic panels! Is there some sort of trick to improve this other than cranking up the radio?

I was offered a speedometer with mph and km/h out of a 280Z and as it is nice for me here in Germany to have the actual speed in km/h at hand (expensive pictures here) My question: Can i put a 280 speedometer into a 240 without a problem, or will the reading be wrong, etc??? Best regards.

I have a low miles '71 that was well taken care of. However, the center console was broken where the top of the shift boot is connected (between the leather boot and the fuse access panel). It didn't make sense to me that it was broken there. I found a replacement console of the same era. After I got it installed, I found that the shift lever lines up too close to that section of the console. If I installed the new console, eventually, that section will break again. After close inspection I found that my "new" console was cracked in that area, I bought a very used one recently and a slightly used one too. The very used one is badly broken where the leather boot…

I just replaced the heater core, valve, etc. in my 73Z. I am missing the clip that holds the cable to the bracket just before it meets the pivoting lever. This is on the driver side. I used a couple of plastic ties to hold in temporarily. They work but I would like to do it correctly. Does anyone make this clip or do I need to get it used? Anyone have one they want to sell?

The steering wheel on my 280 has seen better days. The foam along the top started to degrade like they all do, and the whole wheel was squishy, especially when hot. I looked into options and finally decided on a wheel from the 90 300ZX. This wheel was used on the first year 90-96 Z (the only year without an air bag) and also on a couple years of 240SX. Why this wheel? Because I wanted something that "looks like it belongs". I didn't want a fancy multi-colored racing style wheel or a small quick turn go-kart wheel. I wanted something that looked "right". "Appropriate." Something that could be mistaken for factory. And as a bonus... It's still a Z wheel: There were se…

I made two metric speedo overlays for anyone interested in a metric speedometer. They are calibrated for a 260z mph speedometer. Just print them out and stick them on. If you use them post some pics. I have attached them to the post but for the full resolution right click link and select save as. http://www.atlanticz.ca/260z_metric_speedo_guage_black.jpg http://www.atlanticz.ca/260z_metric_speedo_guage_white.jpg

I happened to be looking at my '70 Z's door striker plates (aka 'door catch') the other day and noticed, for the first time, that they're not as simple in design as I thought. It had always been my impression that they're just one-piece metal stampings. When I turned one of them over, I discovered that this isn't the case at all. They're actually pretty complicated in design and construction, consisting of: Main stamping Cushion Block (rubber molding with a metal insert) Mounting Pin & Spring for Cushion Block Mounting Boss (metal stamping) for Cushion block I'm not really sure how the cushioning block arrangement is supposed to work. Any effo…

I need to replace the carpet on my '71. 240z's have 2 metal tabs under each seat to hold the carpet in place. All the photos I see of replacement carpets do not have the loops cut in the carpet to fit through those tabs. Does anyone know if the replacement carpets have those loops and they are just not shown in the product images? If they don't exist, how do you hold the carpets in place? I don't want to glue them to the floor Thanks.

Wondering if there's any updated impressions of the leather seat covers from Interior Innovations? Definitely the time of year to "encourage" a new set of covers into place, just have to make the Big Decision. Thanks for any help with that
