Howdy, This is for my Series 1 240z First the hard question! Just noticed that my light switch for my glove box is hanging in the box! Looks like the spot weld for the bracket has broken. Looks like to fix it right, I would need to pull the dash and spot weld back on. Not thinking of doing that right now. Any one else had this issue? Would JB weld or drilling a hole with a screw and nut work? Any thoughts would be appreciated…... And because I am lazy, I noticed that one of my cables for the heater control has come loose and the screw has vibrated off, and is no where to be found. Any ideas what size screws those are? I guess the easy way is to take one off the o…

So after 22yrs of just listening to my engine / exhaust and occasionally the radio through my cassette deck and 4" door speakers, I decided to upgrade to a modern audio system. This winter I had removed my interior and installed sound deadening (B-Quiet) and new carpet underlay (and Honda S2000 seats), so things had already been quieted down. I had never installed an audio system before, so I did a lot of research and decided on the following components (all parts purchased through Amazon.com, specs can be seen at Crutchfield links below): Pioneer DEH-80PRS for my head unit. My center stack had already been cut by previous owner to accommodate the cassette deck, so no fu…

Moving along with the Z and currently putting the hvac plate on. I read somewhere the plate should be already attached to the cables and then the cables to the heater box? If that's the case my cables are all already connected. Is there another way to install the plate. Any photos would be great! Thanks!! mo

I wanted my HVAC controls for my aftermarket Vintage Air unit to look as close to "stock" as possible. Tried different approaches that didn't require modification of the stock controls, but was not satisfied. Finally gave-up and had to bend one control arm and drill a few holes. I fabricated some custom brackets to mount the Vintage air controls and connected them to the control arms with pushrods. (See Pics) The rubber pads prevent rattles.

Anyone have this part? Its part of the reclining mechanism for a 73 240 drivers seat. I repaired it once already but my welding skills are sub-par at best. I may take it to a local shop but thought I would check here first hoping someone would have misc seat parts.

Does the hood release knob go on the side beside door bolts? On the passenger side the air vent knob is on the side. I see pics of the hood release knob on the side. Where is the other mounting location? On the bottom of the dash?

Thought I would let you guys in on what I am in doing lately in the Z world. I am working with a FG guy to replicate the early Z dash. The goal of this project is to offer an alternative fix for our aging dashes. The goal includes making this affordable, easy to replace, and an exact copy. Your options now are: Plastic cover that glues on and doesn't allow removal of your gauges... or getting your original fixed for about 1500$ Not very good options. It's a shame too, the dash is the biggest part on the car and can be the biggest eye sore. The FG dash will NOT replace the metal frame work. This project goal is not to lessen the weight of the dash(even though it still mi…

There have been some improvements in the designs of the expanding shank plastic rivets used on automobiles, so I looked on eBoo to see if there was something that was nicer than the rivets that were stock on the Datsun. I searched eBum for push rivet 5mm car, and there were indeed some rivets with an oversized head that didn't have the unsightly dot in the middle (judges have suggested I replace the stock rivets with some that had a smooth head.) I agree with them only because the modern push-rivets have a pin with a large head you can pull out to remove the rivet body (and not have to make new pins!) The vendors I bought rivets from were all Asian vendors. The prob…

I am awaiting delivery of my custom leather seat kit from Interior Innovations and am looking for feedback, ideas on the replacement seat foam. First, I am tall (6'2) and am concerned that if I renew the driver seat foam, I will bump up against the headliner due to the new less compressed foam. My idea is to put the older passenger foam (likely much less compressed) in the driver side & buy one new foam for the passenger side. With the savings from one less new seat foam, I can put that into sound deadening material with the new carpet kit that is also on its way. What do you think? Any feedback or ideas most welcome.
