Gauge overlays 1 2

I plan to put the white-face, self-adhesive, vinyl overlays on my various gauges and have a relatively simple question: How do you remove the tach and speedo needles without doing any damage? At first, I thought they would just pull straight off, but after applying what I feel is enough force, they remain on the spindle.

I've been trying to source the circled part for 240z door locks to no avail for a while via craigslist, ebay, etc for months. It's the piece that clips to the lock cylinder in the door and connects to the linkage rod. The ones I have (being soft metal) are completely shot and allow the cylinder to rotate without locking to door. I really need a passenger side one more than anything and figured I'd reach out and see if anyone has one laying around that's in good shape and not too worn (or knows where to get a new one). Any and all leads are very much appreciated! Chris

We have these products under production right now. They should be ready by fall this year! It is a major investment, but it will help us restore Z cars around the world!

Can't find any good ones. Any links? Don't want AC. Looking for ventilated seat cushion, wire coil type. A few years ago found some "New Old Stock" made in USA, in the 80's I think, on Ebay. They were perfect but expensive, about $35 each. They lasted almost a year before falling apart. Can't find them anymore. Been getting cheapies at O'Reilly but they're not ventilated enough and the last one fell apart after 1 week. Got one at NAPA for $17 a month ago. Loved it, but now it's shot.

Without replacing the gauge faces, how do you clean the faces, especially the numbers on the speedometer and tachometer, and the odometer wheels so you can see them better with whatever light you get out of the dim bulbs? I have no reference to go by, so does anyone have a picture of what the speedometer should look like when new? I think I might get the 4-watt bulbs that MSA has, and I would probably also color the bulbs green. If buying the MSA bulbs is not advisable, due to high cost or that there is just a better choice of bulb (5 watt?) then please comment on that. thxZ

OK, now that I'm finishing the interior of my car, I am searching for the scuff plate (metal/vinyl) for both sides. Color doesn't matter, as I plan to paint them both, but I need nice ones. Anyone have a line on used or new ones? It looks like '77-78 had different ones than the other years. (figures) Any help, input or ideas is appreciated. Thanks!

The stock seat belt on the driver side of my '73 is sticking. Yesterday about 12" of seat belt was hanging out of the retractor, wouldn't go any more. Pulled it a few times and it came out, but I let it retract. Then tried about 100 times, it wouldn't move. After driving a while, stopped, pulled it once, and it came out. Hooked it up and stuck a comb in the slot on the retractor, so it can't retract. OK for now but not very good. Couldn't figure where it retracts to until I read this: http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/45114-retractable-seat-belt-restoration-for-my-1972/?hl=%2Bseat+%2Bbelts A good write up, but I hope there's an easier way to fix it. Not much time to…

I installed a new MSA headliner today. I found that if I stuck old licence plates in the moldings around the perimeter to hold up one side while I glued the other it turned into a pretty easy job for one set of hands. It turned out great with no bubbles or wrinkles. It only took about an hour and most of that time was spent waiting for the adhesive to setup. Not a big deal but I thought I would share.

Hello everyone. I am about 90% complete with the placement of the wiring and switches on the dash. I was having a real problem with the cigg lighter and hazard switch installation. I don't know what happened before me, but this bracket is all out of alignment. Does anyone have a photo by any chance of the bracket unbent? It took me a while to try and align it, but only to have either the hazard out of alignment or the cigg lighter out of alignment. Also looks like someone stretched out the holes on the dash for the hazard/cigg lighter. Can I somehow fill this in with a plastic filler? Thanks for your help!

Hello everyone, just rebuilt the heater box, heater core, installed new foam everywhere. I have installed the heater box and the cables. My dash is not in yet as I wanted to take care of this first and then put the dash. I have installed the heater control mechanism cables to the appropriate section of the heater box excluding the blower motor flap. My question: 1. Is there a bracket that holds the long cable to the blower motor flap? My box doesn't seem to have it. 2. I know the heater cable mechanism attaches to the back of the heater control panel, is there another mounting point behind the heater control mechanism? 3. Will I have an issue installing the dash with …

Can anyone tell me if the seat sliders from a 280z are the same as the sliders from a 240-260z? Thanks, Chris
