Hey guys, I was disassembling my tail lights in order to re-finish the trims and exterior finisher panels when I saw 2 hoses near the passenger side tail-light, inside the car. One hose was crudely cut and a piece inserted to patch it back together. This patch came apart and I'm now realizing that this may have been a contributor to the raw fuel smell inside the cabin. The hose definitely smells of fuel and was basically wide open. I looked all through the manual but didn't find reference to it. This is a 1974 260Z. Can someone post a photo or maybe link to a diagram of how these hoses should look, and what function they serve? Thanks a bunch

I have my seat covers in and am in the process of cleaning the vinyl and door panels. I ordered my seat covers a couple years ago and just now getting to work on the car. The box has White (which I have) but also lists bone and parchment or something different than the bright white. I plan to try and make them all match, but my question is did the 240 originally have same colored seat, door panel, and vinyl or did they use one color for the door panels and vinyl and slightly different colors for the seats?

How were the passenger seats of the early 240z's attached to the seat mounts? Was there some from of fixed rail that the seat bolted to & that bolted to the unibody? I'm thinking of removing the sliders from my Miata seats in an effort to lower them to allow for greater comfort without cutting out the existing brackets.

OK, I have had an 70,000 mile unmolested 1972 240Z for a few years now and in that time redid the mechanicals and suspension. Knowing I had a cracked dash I found an NOS dash a couple of years ago. It had a 1982 date code and was uninstalled and still in the original box. Well I recently went to install it and what a disappointment! Nothing lines up! The glove box opening is to low, the hazard switch hole is too far to the right and what a struggle getting the thing back in the car. I had to bend and force the thing to get the mounting holes right and there is a big gap in between the control console and dash. I don't know if this thing tweeked in storage or it was never …

I did a search on seat foam and have been reading all the threads. Most people buy the foam kits and use those, but they are $125 each and I still have a lot to do on this car. I wanted to know if anyone has used generic foam or something else to restore their seats. I appreciate any input!!

I recently purchased a 'new' 71 center console from MSA as mine had a small crack in it and I wanted to see if it was as they described. this is the add A damaged or aged center console can take a lot away from your interior. Fortunately, we were able to get the 70-71 version repoduced in fiberglass after Nissan discontinued the original 240Z center consoles. Note: This console can be modified to fit 70-71 models equipped with an automatic transmission. Please call for details. Now what this does not tell you is that the openings for the choke cables and defroster button were cut by hand, NOT a machine as none of the edges are straight and none of the corners sharp, bu…

...the 2 gauges and clock in the center of the dash? It's a 77 280 and I'm looking for these. Doesn't matter if the clock is working or not. Late 76 to late 78 gauges will work. Iv'e just started my search and usually I see them all over the place and now that I need a set I can't find any worth a damn. Thanks.

OK. I'm now beating my head against the wall, after conducting numerous searches. My 240 is missing the bracket/mount, whatever you call it, where you attach the bottom of the hatch strut. The early Zs only had one strut, which probably caused a lot of the mounts to break off? I only see two holes where it once was. Was it attached with a bolt, screw or welds? I need a new on so my hatch won't decapitate me!!! Help

Hello, I would like to try and repair the heater control panel (the part where the levers go through the slots.) On the sides of the panel there are some plastic 'legs' that probably keep the panel tight against the outer heater fascia panel. What I'm asking for is some photos from the side. From that I can rebuild the panel to what it's supposed to be like, and it'll be tight again (it rattles a little.) ThxZ

I have new door panels installed on my '73; I purchased NOS window crank handles but cannot get them to stay on the regulator. I pushed inward on the door panel as much as I could and slid the window crank handle (with the retaining pin inserted onto the back side of the handle) onto the regulator, but I don't see how I can force the retaining pin downward to secure it onto the regulator. Is there some nifty trick/tool that I need to use to get the crank handle to stay on <g>?

I don't have any metal snaps on the passenger side tunnel, where the emergency brake boot attaches to. Would anyone know how these metal snaps are connected to the tunnel? 71Z. Thank you, TimsZ
