So this winter my heat hadn't been working. Blower motor clearly worked, so I figured I might be having problems with the heater core. Tonight I got down and looked around to see if I could spot any obvious problems, here's what I found. You are looking at the passenger under dash, where the heater hoses pass into the firewall. Forgive the glare. The two smaller circles are the broken tips of the "Cool - Heat" lever. It is broken in half, so even though the console was set to "Heat" nothing was actually happening at the blower and core. The large circle is the mount for the wire itself. You can see that its bent pretty far out of line. My guess is whatever bent the le…

Hi, I'd appreciate some feedback from those who have installed a Courtesy Nissan AC Kit (SKU: 240-Z) in their S30. Was the installation straight forward? Does the unit meet your expectations? Have you had any problems with any of the kit components? How would you rate the overall quality of the kit? Regards, George

Hey guys, 'Couple 'a days ago my radio (Model One Retrosound) got super quite. It seems like all the individual speakers work as they should (stock and 6x9s in a rear box) just at a super low volume. I emailed Retrosound, but while I wait for their response I figured I'd post here. Anyone have a similar issue? At this point, I'm inclined to think its an amp problem. Since the radio and speakers work otherwise normally.

Okay, i´m about to make the decision on purchasing the Vintage Air Gen II Mini or the Compac kit for my 1972 Datsun 240z. The weather down here is 31 degrees Celsius with 62% of humidity. The kit i choose must bring a powerfull compressor, low noise and cool the cabin sufficiently. Beside of the above it must fit the dash with minor modifications and its controls can be modify to be used with the original Heater Panel Control indash. catalog Index - www.vintageair.com Any opinions?

I have installed new speakers and head units in other cars I have owned with varying degrees of success in sound quality, so with the Z I thought I would put a little more thought into it. I'm not an audiophile, I can't afford to be This is what I've done and what I'm thinking of buying, The Z is well baffled, LizardSkin type coating on the all interior surfaces, covered with MuderMat then 1/2" thick quality underlay. It's pretty snug and quiet. I have this amp already that has been sitting on the shelf for a few years, Clarion U.S.A. | APX4360 I'm thinking about these 5.25" speakers for the kick panels, Infinity Reference X REF-5002ix 5-1/4" 2-way car speakers at…

Hello all, I am looking at replacing my original seat covers and cushions. This place has some good options for me.(Welcome to the Interior-innovations!) My question is : Has anyone gotten the Perforation Option on their seat covers vs. non? Is there a difference going from the basket weave to the solid in vinyl? My original seats have the 'basket weave' on the sitting area and backs. The new ones I am looking at do not, or I can get the perforations. Do the perforations match the comfort of the 'basket weave' regarding breathability? Im in Texas. and it gets hot sometimes around here! Thanks.

I purchased this from a gentleman whom stated that this was stock on his s-30 ZCAR but... ...it does not look like the ones I have seen pictures of and there are no identifying marks on it. The horn button mechanism looks like Nissan design but no horn button is not helping the issue! It does have the faux leather w/ stitching on the grip (which is hard foam or rubber or something similar).

I want to restore some parts I have, including an automatic shift plate, and I'm wondering if anyone here knows the best way to repaint the silver, rectangular outline on the shift plate. I know there was also chrome paint used on many of the panels (like the console choke plate), so I want to know where to buy this type of paint and what brushes/painting tools I will need to make this look professional. Any ideas?

I have noticed there is subwoofer test music available that can be used to evaluate speakers. But how would I know if a speaker I have passed the test? I tried playing some of the test music through the large over the ear headphones I have that are supposed to be stu dio monitor grade which I think means that they have a flat response. They are supposed to be good down to 5 Hz. The sound bass notes (it sounded like an electric bass) went lower and lower down the scale and then all I could feel was an air current but no sound when it got too low for me to hear it. I realize this question might be similar in difficulty to "what is the meaning of life" with no real answ…

Has anyone accomplished a complete change of color on a 240Z interior? I'm buying a silver car with a red interior -- really nice car and the interior is in good shape, but I'm not a big fan of the burgundy. Black is much better. I plan to renew the carpeting (already black) and reupholster the door skins and seat covers in black, but I'm wondering how much hassle is involved in pulling, priming, and painting the plastic interior panels and headliner. Thanks in advance for your advice!

Wrapping a Dash 1 2 3

This is an experiment I'm attempting on a Datsun 620 dash currently. It can be applied to any dash. Like many Datsun dashes, mine was cracked and in an awful condition. Instead of putting a cap over the cracks, I decided to wrap the dash in a synthetic leather material I got from a local fabric store. It was very cheap too, only $20 for more than double the material necessary. I started working on the smaller parts to get an idea of how this fabric works. With a little bit of heat it is very pliable and fairly easy to work with. For my first time I was pretty pleased with the finished product. Let me know what you guys think. Chase
