I'm having a hard time finding any information or pictures of the seat belt strap that secures to one of the screws underneath the center console. MSA sells a reproduction. What years did these come factory on? Are the straps supposed to angle back or angle forward?

Hey all This afternoon I finally decided to change out the decades old inner weather stripping in my Z. All was going well until I pulled the doom light trim off - the large piece of plastic on the roof support. Once off I found a 1.5" rust section near the drivers side. I pulled all the other pannels of to ensure this was the only area of rust. Pressed around the rust with a screw driver and went right through. After pulling out all the rusted out metal - the whole is about 1" - 2" across - I found where the water had entered. The rear hatch seals - little plastic bucket near the hinges - had broken allowing water into the cabin. Looking at the rust this must have been g…

Original owner and bought in Hawaii when in military. Now in Minnesota but traveled many a mile while in Army. Anyway the dash has one pretty wide crack as well as a very small one. I've read all the info about repairing, etc BUT I really want a new one or a very nice refurbished one. Yah, I know they are expensive but... I've tried the dash cover years ago but that just warps. Besides zcarsource.com or msa, does anyone know where I can purchase??

I have started this thread in hopes to generate a repository of the differences in choke knobs that were used through the years. Not including the throttle control that is discussed in a different thread. Choke knobs only. Why are 70-71 knobs only available and not 72-73? What are the differences and what have 72-73 owners done to replace theirs? Nissan parts numbers and pictures of the knobs (front and side to display curvature and screw location) will help with this thread.

I had been looking for front mats for my 240Z for the last few months and only found one pair of ratty ones on eBay selling for over $20. Not wanting to buy a new carpet set just yet I got to thinking about making my own, only the automotive carpet they sell for $15~$20 at the auto parts stores isn't really that nice and would probably fray on the edges without the piping stuff sewn on. So I stopped by my local home improvement store and found these bitchin mats for like $6.00 each! They aren't quite all black and have a texture to them but they are backed with a rubber like material and seem very durable. Took some measurements and cut out a cardboard template fo…

I've just finished a center console R&R and I have parts leftover Namely, they're two tabs/clips, one of which I had labeled "choke cable hold down" (the one with blue tape). I failed to photograph this part when I took it off and now I'm at a loss as to where it goes. There doesn't seem to be an appropriate boss underneath the console to screw it into, and the choke cable seems to hold itself in place just fine. It's not a very long run from the lever assembly to where it tucks under the radio. Also it's so close to the shift boot and the choke light switch wire, I don't think there's room for hardware to hold it in place. Here are the tabs in question. Can anyone…

I'd like to know what everyone that has removed the original materials off the floor and deck areas are using. I'm aware of several products: Dynamat LizardSkin (spray on) SecondSkin Hushmat Ensolite BXT II RAAMmat Eastwood Thermo-coustic (poorly rated) Noxudol 3101 B-Quiet I'm sure there are many more. There are few things I'd like to know about your experience and knowledge of these products. Cost, performance, application issues, flammability are among the most important to me. Please slay me with your knowledge, recommendations and evaluations.

Hey lads Yesterday, in my attempt to determine the noise in my car I pretty much disassembled the entire left side of the interior. In the process I broke a bolt on one of the hatch supports (the telescopic things). Does anyone know where one could buy a new (used) one? Thanks Jan

This may be well-known but I'll post anyway. If you notice that your shift lever is almost too hot to touch and the console is so warm you're worried about it warping or melting, you might have a torn shifter boot. Mine was in decent shape when installed but eventually cracked and tore. With the warm weather the air coming up through a fairly small hole, after passing by the exhaust pipe and anti-resonator, was overheating everything in the vicinity. Also, for anyone looking for a JY alternative to the S30 boot, a 1985 300ZX boot will work if you punch new screw holes in it ( I had one that came with a $20 transmission). It actually works better than stock, the stoc…

The little holes for the screws on my cover all (3) broke out. Here is what I did. The cover are very hard to find and not cheep if you do. I drilled very small holes by hand with a drill bit and uses some SS wire to make the new attachment places. The little screws are hidden under a plastic cover and you can not see much of the wire, I also used a marker to make the wire black.

Finally took off the dash Saturday night and am starting to strip the car down to the firewall. I am removing the metal dash frame off the dash, and using that in the car to fabricate a custom fiberglass dash I intend to wrap in PVC leather. The ultimate goal is a dash that: Looks modern (shooting for an RX8/WRX style instrument cluster) Has space for 6 gauge pods (maybe five, we'll see) Has double din for touchscreen. Has upgraded, modern round vents Is set back 1-3 inches compared to the existing dash Can accommodate vacuum actuators for climate control I've been planning this for about 2 years. Finally taking the plunge!
