5/71 240Z. Bought a pair of Corbeau GTS 2 seats from MSA, got their recommended retractable seat belt kits as well. https://www.thezstore.com/product/5882/seat-belt-retractable-lap-shoulder-both-sides-70-73-240z Turns out that these are from Retrobelt.com and the instructions are really superficial. Bag of misc fasteners, brackets, etc was provided for the DIYer. MSA said to contact Retrobelt, who declined to provide any further instructions, citing liability concerns. So I need some advise. I need to do the vinyl roof trim and the A pillar trim in the car. If I had been thinking, I would have done this while it was on the rotisserie, but I wasn't! I did the headliner this way. I don't know why I didn't do the rest then... So which order do the pieces go in? Sides first, then windshield header? Any pictures of how the ends are folded or detailed? What is the best way to go about it? Foam onto the vinyl first or foam on the car first? Glue applied to the vinyl or onto the car? Spray glue or yellow contact cement? I have been procrastinating on this but it's time to get it done. Thanks for any help C

This past spring the heater core in my 77 was leaking, so I bought a NOS aftermarket heater core off ebay as a replacement. I pressure tested it on the bench before installation and everything looked fine, so I put it in. Unfortunately, joy was short lived and by the end of the summer, the new one that I just put in was leaking. Again. Direct drop in cores are getting hard to find, and are expensive, so I started messing around with alternatives. I've been reluctant to mention it because the project isn't done and until the T's are dotted and the I's are crossed, there's the chance that something will come up that kills the whole idea. Here is my attempt at restoring the radio faceplate on my 1977 datsun 280z. I used this same process for the climate control bezel. Not perfect, but better than before. Has anyone here ever done a reupholstery job on their S30? In my restomod project I decided that I did not want a black interior, especially with that crisscross pattern material, and decided on light blue. I bought plenty of sky blue marine vinyl fabric from www.fabric.com (apparently no longer in business - at least using that name or URL) and it's a simple matter to do the tranny tunnel, doglegs, etc. using the OEM fabric for templates. I also got color-matched paint mixed for all the hard plastic pieces at a Columbus auto paint store (Ohio Auto Kolor). I have a 1/1970 240Z (#1427). I have removed the sound deadening tar from the floor pans, and am preparing to replace it with new tar, using Wurth tar I found recommended here. That same post had a pattern for a 1970 Z. I printed out the pattern, but when I went to check the fit, the portion under each seat is of a different pattern than my car had. On mine, there is an additional (useless??) area cut out towards the rear. The front floor pan pieces DO match up though. I tried to look on Bring a Trailer/ etc for photos of other 1970 Zs, but the under-seat area doesn't seem to get photographed regularly (have to remove the seat, duh). Has anybody with a 280Z used these MSA speaker panels? Not that I have my Z on the road right now, but when I do, I will need to add more speakers. I have a nice Alpine stereo with a few small amps, but I only have the two 4" quality speakers in the factory locations under the quarter windows. The sound quality is okay, but the system is all but useless with the road noise in these cars. I could build a real speaker panel like they used to sell and I might still do that, but the sound is still all behind me. Are the front kick panel speaker mounts worth getting? How much space do the eat up for foot room and do the speakers sound decent in those thin plastic h…

Just finished restoring my tail lights and one thing I did may help people so I'll pass it on. Not really mind blowing but useful :-). When I took them out I noticed the "melted plastic" I'll call it that retained the nut and cap for each hole was so brittle it wouldn't hold the nuts in anymore. Half or more of the 16 total nuts were falling out the back because the plastic the factory melted over was dried out and nearly gone. It's a miracle the PO didn't lose these lights honestly. Went to home depot got this fix it putty I've used in the yard to stop PVC leaks and it was excellent at repairing each nut placement. It even dried an exact match to the color of the p…

Hi Folks, I have a 1970 I've been tinkering with as time allows. The car originally had a blue interior, but then some nice person screwed down brown carpet, and another nice person after that installed black carpet and black vinyl in back. I am restoring to the original blue. I still have most of the interior bare, but I'm close to being ready to re-assembly everything. Just finished cleaning out the heater core and blower, should be able to get that reassembled by end of this week. I found a NOS pointy tip about a year or so ago and just getting around to install it in my 6/71. It's a pain in the arse let me tell you. I'm either way off or something is missing. Does anyone have picture of the original setup and also what the bracket looks like? Here is a picture of the antenna as I received it, are these pieces at the top in the right order? Assuming they are, when i try to put it in the toothed half wheel seems too small for the hole in the panel and keeps coming up through no matter what i do to steady it for the washer and nut.. I must be missing something because it's near impossible to orient these with only the two hands God gave me lol.…
