I was messing around with consoles recently and noticed some differences between old style and new style ashtrays. Here's older (240) on left and newer (280) on right. Note the deletion of the little grabber handle in the later years. Probably a tiny cost savings change: In the later years, they also added the little window for the tray illumination lamp. 280 on left, 240 on right: And, I'm not sure if it's simply manufacturing variation over the years, but the 240 version is just a tiny bit deeper than the 280 version. I'm sure your day is now complete knowing all this.

Hello All, Well I finally got some time to work on the interior. I pulled all the old carpet out of the box to match up to the new pieces and realized the new didnt come with the 4 snaps that are needed to attach in the front. Does anybody know where you can get these or have a few left that they are not using? I've attached a pic to show exactly what I am looking for. I know I can use more modern styles but want to stick with the original. Any help is greatly appreciated!! Thank You, Jeff

I'm trying to get my filler tube out, and I've run into a snag. How do you get the passenger side quarter panel interior trim piece off (the one that covers the gas tank filler tube), I've got it loose and I've disconnected the passenger seat belt retractor to get it out of the way but it just doesn't seem to come out, and I don't want to break it. Any tips? Thanks

Hi all, A PO cross threaded the threads the chrome nut screws onto that secures the hood release cable to the bracket just under the dash on my 1970 car. What MM size is the chrome nut and its pitch? I want to chase the threads with a die to fix the threads. I measure the pitch as 1 and the diameter of the threads as 9.5 MM. I can't use the nut to figure this out because I damaged it before I figured out what the real problem was. I would think the 9.5 MM measurement means the nut is a 10 MM nut however the tap and dies set I have does not have a 10 MM nut with a pitch of 1, it only has a 10 MM with a pitch of 1.25. I probably am the only Z car owner in history wh…

Hi all. I'm rebuilding a '77 260z, and I'm trying to use 100% factory option parts, or at least the slight deviaiton I will allow is period correct stuff available in Japan, only where it's too hard to find sports option parts. I.e. wheels, 40mm solex carbs (though I have a feeling these were a U.S.A. option part?). Anyway theres a few bits in the interior missing, so for those parts I'd like to replace them with optional goodies. Might even replace normal clock with a calendar clock but we'll see how budget goes. First up I'm missing a gear knob. A wooden 5spd knob costs like $200 anyway. Does anyone (looking at you Alan) have some paperwork available showing the rally g…

I am a great fan of the Rally and calendar clocks for the S30...but found this variation of Yahoo Japan.... have not seen that type of face design before....Google translate says later S30..? (The second image is what I am used to seeing). Main differences are font and saying Quartz.

hi again. i have an early 260z that PO has hacked to bits seemingly currently the car has what looks like honda accord seats(see pic of mounting) problem being i'm 6'3" and my head touches the ceiling. i just picked up a pair of supposed "240/260/280 seats" and i beleive they are either different style mountings or i'm missing pieces. they seats i picked up have mounting points on all 4 sides that look to be factory, but are at 45 degree angles. the car has nothing to mount these to. are these the wrong seats? are there bits missing from my car(again)? if these are the wrong rails, does anyone have the correct ones they could part with? thanks in advance -K.

I'm repairing my panel ( cracks, holes, paint, etc. ) Plastex worked really well on cracks and holes. It's sandable. Apparently the whole piece was chromed, then the black was put on. I sanded the whole thing with 80 grit sandpaper. It made the chrome look really nice. No scratches at all. The pics. don't show how good it actually looks. The sandpaper took the black off the peaks of the texture and left black in the valleys, on the textured section. I think it looks pretty nice that way. I also used the sharp edge of a small screw driver to get paint off. That didn't scratch the chrome either. Some sections will need chrome, but I think it looks good and I didn't polish o…

Hi all: I need to figure out what pieces I need to re-fill in these two kick panel areas. Does anyone have pics of what these areas are supposed to look like? And/or can list what pieces I need to be on the look out for? See pics of what mine look line now. There is nothing left on the driver side and on the passenger side, the fuse box does have a cover but that's about all that is there. I need to fill all of this in and get new carpet. Any help/advice would be appreciated. Thank you
