Hello folks, So here is the deal. I have TWO original maple shift knobs for the 240z. The wood is good on both (lick of varnish and they would look new), and the bottom 'fake chrome' part on both is even unbroken... but (yes, you guessed it) they both have broken center "gear map" caps. I actually still have part of the last one that broke, and its about 80 percent left. I actually need the five speed map, but would settle for the four speed one at this point (which is what the broken one is/was).. i may even end up putting a non-stock "Datsun" logo in one.. So the question is, to solve this horrid dilemma do i have to buy the new one for 110 dollars on ebay... or …

Hello everyone. This is my first post ever to any forum. I looked around first before proceeding to this step and couldn't find what I'm looking for. I'm in need a of a great upholstery shop that can make my '77 280z coupe look like new again. I've been putting it off because of all the mixed reviews I keep hearing about the kits. And in addition to that my seats are in pretty dire condition. I could also use new carpet and a dash cover. So if you know someone who does this as well that would be a bonus. Thanks. MB

What is the purpose of the capillary tube on the water **** valve for the heater system? The car in question is a 77 without air conditioning. They reference the capillary on page BE-51 (Body Electrical) section of the 77 FSM. They talk about being careful not to damage it, but I cannot find any description of why it exists in the first place. Some kind of attempt at feedback to stabilize the output air temp in the face of changing heater core temperatures?

Kit Supplier: Black Dragon Auto I picked out this kit because, compared to others when shopping, it was a complete kit. It even includes the e-brake handle cover with 4 snaps (not in the description below) so I had ordered one in parallel. The material quality of finish is fine. The vinyl is not as thick as stock. The cloth backing is adequate. The only problem is the fit of the vinyl. Here are the problems I encountered The back section of wheel well covers were very baggy and the plastic inserts not sufficiently big. The front section of the wheel well covers was different. The right side fit much better than the left. A lack of "extra material" at the rear…

i recently purchased a 70 240z in great shape, but i find when i roll up the windows, i basically have to push them out as they near top window frame to get them to seat in the weatherstripping. i've tried adjusting the tracks, but that doesn't seem to help. i've searched for a good exploded view of the door, but none of them show the rollers. on my car both the rollers are on the outside - is that correct? They push the window inward, which seems like its causing the problem. any help would be appreciated. thanks, Ken

I am having a perforated leather headliner made by an artisan trimmer. I don't have all the details yet. But I believe it will be insulated and of excellent quality with a price to match. Due to availability, the perf pattern will be a little different from stock but with similar size holes. Photos can be provided as the project progresses. I was wondering if anyone else would be interested in this item. Once the pattern is made, providing additional headliners could be a possibility. Two photos of the on going interior work are attached. Thanks, FixItMan

Hi Everyone, I've got a 1978 280z that I'm in the process of restoring - unfortunately, when I got it back from my paint and body guy, I found that he'd neglected to put back on the clip that screws in with the arm rest in order to attach the chrome finisher (see the pic below). I've tried to locate one online, but have had no luck. Does anyone know what this part is called and where I can find one? Thanks in advance! Luke Austin, TX

I know there are quite a few threads on this subject already, so apologies for that, but has anyone any experience of these replacement seat cover kits currently on Ebay? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170861451633?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 They look a better finish than the MSA kits, which dont get the best reviews, but I would like to know from someone who has used them before I am pressing the Buy it now button, thanks.

I have a Nissan brand new in the box key set for a 280Z, it includes ignition, doors, hatch and glove box. I don't have a 280 and would like to get it someone who does, what would be a right price for something like that? I am a 240 guy so I am not sure what 280 guys would pay. Once I come up with a price I will list the set in the classified section.

Hi Everyone, I hope some of you early Z gurus can help me. I'm chasing my tail trying to figure out the original configuration of the carpet/jute/mat in the hatch area of my car. The car is a 6/70 car, VIN 6040, and I'm trying to restore it very close to original. What was in the car when I bought it was a heavy rubber mat glued to the trunk floor. A loose jute mat was on top of this and carpet (without insulation/jute) was on top of this. The trunk floor had remnants of glued velcro towards the rear on either side. The carpet also had velcro sewed to the bottom of the carpet in the same locations. Pictures of these pieces are attached. My confusion is that the ve…
