Hey guys, Feel free to educate me on what these two knobs are actually called, but I can't seem to get them off. I am replacing the dash pad/getting the frame powder coated. The last thing holding me back are these two mechanisms from being removed. Thanks as always

I am finishing up a full restomod on a 280z. I modified the floor pans and tunnel in several areas and also removed the seat braces so I can't use a standard carpet kit. I'm planning to get a roll of carpet and install myself. The hatch piece I can use a pre-cut standard product from a vendor. Since the carpet won't be molded, it will be a little tricky. I'll likely have to use heat and water to get it to conform. I much prefer the look of carpet on the transmission tunnel vs vinyl. My current plan is to have 3 separate pieces: 2 for each floor, and one for the transmission tunnel. Since the pieces will be separate, there wi…

I was cleaning up this ignition switch and one of the two wires broke off from the switch body. I attempted to pry loose the black plastic cover where the wire connects to the main body of the switch, but it just felt like if I kept "persuading" it that I was going to break the cover. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how I might get this wire reattached?

I may have a line on a used dashboard which hopefully is in acceptable condition for the Z restoration I'm currently working on. Looks like there are three versions of dashes for the S30's over the years, however from 1974 to 1978 they all have the same dash. Could someone with knowledge of dash versions confirm if this is correct please? Thanks, Jim

After looking at my original "saggy" sunvisors for a few years (and with lots of "sheltering at home" time) I decided to try a "fix". The vynil skins themselves are in great shape but it seemed as if the internal stuffing had deteriorated over 40 odd years and there were wrinkles here and there on the visors. I didn't want to change the original vynil for leather (visor repair kits on the market) so I decided to cut them open along the forwardmost seam with a fine scalpel blade, staying on one side of the seam so I could later close the seam almost invisibly. To my surprise the foam layer inside was pretty intact and the cause of the wrinkles on the outside was just …

Has anyone had their sun visors reupholstered at the Z store? https://www.thezstore.com/product/6346/sun-visor-pair-repair-reupholstering-70-78-240z-260z-280z I don't have any visors currently for my 280z and was considering buying a rough set and doing this service or buying a decent used set. Any thoughts?

While going through some spare parts I found a heater know unlike the ones commonly seen on the S30, the lower knob in the photos below. Has anyone seen the use of this knob on a S30 (or any other Datsun)? Thanks, Keith

The "vent" piece straight from my blower needs replacing. I dont see the technical name of it in the service manual. Would it be the blower duct? or main air duct? Hard to search for the part when i am not positive what is called

My project has no passenger seat (or rails) and the driver's seat has seen much better days. I'm just going to replace the set but I don't want to wind up with seats that are too wide for the space. Anybody have any wisdom to share? Not looking to do racing type seats, but something comfy but sporty. I remember liking the high back seats in my old 280ZX.

Having let this restoration project drag on for far too many years, I find myself with stuff I don`t remember buying. There are two things I need help in identifying: First, taped to the driver-side floor mat was a package of funny little metal things - see photo - but how they attach to what, I don`t know. I believe that this mat came from MSA, but they`re closed today, and I sense more wisdom on this forum than at their order desk. Anyone? Second, I have a number of mats that would replace the vinyl over the shock towers, the transmission tunnel, and the front wall of the luggage compartment, but none that fill the floor area in behind the seats of my '71…

Hey guys, I am repairing the interior trim on my 280z and I wanted your advice on what I should do. I have read forums everywhere, and it seems like everyone has a little bit of a different method. My panels aren't terrible, but definetly need some structural work. I took some photos of the cracks, but there are a lot more. I was wondering if I should just tack glue things back together with superglue then put plastic epoxy over the back? Others say they add a little bit of fiberglass too? I could do that, but would I need epoxy resin for that too instead of the plastic epoxy. In addition, how would you repair those cracked holes where the pop clips should go …
