I trying to referbish my 4/71 240Z as close to original, including rubber bushings and proper plating of fasteners. . . The sound dampening mats on the drivers and passenger floor boards are cracks and are starting to come up and will need replacement material. I found the product at JC Whitney, however they tried to send it to me 9 times without getting one that was damaged, poor packaging that the would say they try something new and it would just come damage, it was a big waist of time. Same with Summit they told me a product was the butyl material when I got it it wasn't they charged me a restocking fee (was not happy since it was theirs staff that miss lead me). …

Our club has an event this Saturday that I don't want to miss. I've been meaning to change out the stock steering wheel for a new Grant wheel, but I have limited time between now and Saturday. I don't want to start the project and not get finished in time for the event. Can anyone give me an idea how long it took them to do this swap? I am pretty handy, but not a mechanic, if that helps.

Have purchased a fairly nice 76 280z. There are a couple of items that I am working on and thought I would ask the group here: 1: Would a center console from a 77/78 work fine (without mods) in a 76? 2: Turn signal auto return does not work when turning left or right. Without digging into it yet, is there a general fix? I'm guessing I will have to dig into it to find out.

I was searching the forums about fiberglass dash info, but the last thread was over 5 years ago. I figured I would start a new thread about this topic as hopefully there are advancements in this. I wanted to know if anyone could tell me about their experience (Costs, sacrifices, pros/cons, etc.) with a fiberglass dash, such as the one PDK provides (http://www.pdkfabrication.com/). I am wanting to take this route as finding a new dash has been a royal pain, and my dash is too bad to restore. I am looking for the most cost efficient way to fix my cars dash problem. My logic behind implementing a fiberglass dash is because it seems to be a cheaper alternative, but then ag…

I got my 280Z today and I wanted to fix the shift boot and shifter. The shift knob that came with the car had lost its threading and wouldn't tighten up. So I placed in a Lexus (auto) shift knob with some minor drilling to increase the inside diameter of the knob. Fits like a charm now and looks better than the last one did, even though this knob itself is no "looker". I also had to fix the boot. The leather string was missing that tightens it up snuggly around the shifter. So I improvised a way to tighten it without making a run to walmart. I used a Zip-Tie that was long enough to thread through the lip of the boot. I actually had to get a larger one because this …

Today I am starting to get together everything to make some reproduction parts, I am hindered today by the unexpected illness of my son number 1, so I will not have as much time as I expected, but as he naps, and soaks up comfort, I will be doing some, if not all the following things-between Daddy duty! 1) getting all of the original parts I want to reproduce together in one spot. 2) Maximizing the condition of my original parts(cleaning and repairing) 3) Storing the ready parts until I am ready to actually make the molds 4) Getting appropriate containers for building the molds 5) Getting together the appropriate supplies for making the molds 6) Actually start making mold…

Since I installed my radio and put together my heater control panel, it motivated me to work on one more project, installing a new glove box. I destroyed my original glove box when taking out the clock. In searching the threads, I now understand that I need to remove the blower motor in order to twist and bend the glovebox in place. Can anyone provide any practical help before I start? For instance is there any trick in lowering the blower motor? Thanks in advance for any help. vincesf

I've searched around and read the different forums regarding Radios, speakers, etc. I still have some questions though, mostly probably stemming from not having done enough research prior to ordering parts. I have a 2/'70 build date 240z. It came without the radio. I pulled the panel off in the rear, and the original speaker was there, albeit destroyed, and the power antenna was missing as well. I shied away from spending the big bucks on a Series-1 radio, and instead opted for one pulled (I believe) from a ’73. I also found a power antenna (locally) that worked, but upon later research appears to be from a 280z. Finally, I’ve ordered a set of Pioneer TS-G134…

Hello all, today while driving, I had to use the horn. When I pushed the horn pad in, I noticed it pop out of one side. After I got home I tried to push it back in (after removing the horn fuse of course) and the horn pad popped off all together and I noticed the foam inside which I assume is used to keep it in place broke off. Now I have a foam ring about 2/3 the circumference of the pad. I guess after 40 years of use it finally gave way. Does anyone have a remedy for this? Or do I need to drop $$ on a new horn pad? Thanks.
