I just have to share, I'm so happy I could (well, ok, maybe I already did) dance a jig! I spent the weekend visiting my folks in madison WI, and my younger brother (who's a 80's VW guy) took me to the local parts yard. The same '72 (11/72 actually) 240z that he pulled my uncracked dashboard from earlier this year is still there. The ol' girl has now donated the following parts in the name of keeping other healthier (meaning not rusting apart) z cars looking sharp: both plastic quarter window trim pieces complete with seatbelt retaining hooks both plastic interior plastic trunk side pieces both of the little rectangle things that screw on to the main rear trunk trim …

This switch came out of a 72 240z... can anyone tell me if it was factory, a dealer installed option or aftermarket? And what, if any, value it has... Thanks, Mark

I have a NOS rearview mirror that doesn't look like any 240Z mirror I have seen before. It has a different style case and no day/night knob. The part number is 96321-E8300. That number is listed in my RHD S30 parts catalog as Assy-Inside Back Mirror and notes Applied Model-Europe. There is also HLS30U written in black marker on the side of the box and what looks like a date code of 1 8 23 on the back of the mirror stalk. I assume that means a production date of August 23, 1971? So is this the type of mirror that came on European S30s in 1971, or is this another mirror someone put in an old box? If it is original, why did European mirrors not have a day/night knob? …

Howdy everybody... I just finished with the Honda blower motor upgrade for my 72 240z. I have got to tell you, this would be the best upgrade ever for my Z if it wasn't for Dave's Headlight relay harness upgrade. I'm telling you...on the setting low (the first setting from off) the output is just about equal to what it used to be on full. Yes, it's that good. I did it primarily for 2 reasons: 1. The stock heater fan's output reminds me of an early 70's Japanese car (duh)...in other words, this heater motor's output is very low in comparison to anything in modern times. 2. I plan on installing a new R134a A/C system this June..so I wanted to possibly get higher fan outpu…

My body shop took the mirror out, and i can't get the sucker back on. I've got the plastic base, a rounded triangular plate with three screw holes, and the mirror. I put the plastic base in first, then the plate on top and screwed them down, and i assumed that the mirror just snapped in. Am i just not pushing on it hard enough, or am i missing a piece? I don't want to break it...

I stumbled into a crack free oem dash for my 72. It has been in the car and in a garage all of its non-driving live (43K miles). I don't know what, if any, care it has had previously. I am terrified if I park the car in the sun one afternoon at a show and shine event, it is going to crack. What do I put on it? Armorall? Something better? Any thoughts?

I have two 240's; a 10/71 and a 3/72 both 110 red/orange, both with white interiors. My question is: Is it white or off white? I don't have anything to compare them to and I am attempting to replace all of the interior in the 10/71. Black dragon lists off white, MSA has white with "off white" no longer available. I have sent an email to Les but haven't heard back. I don't want to piece together stuff from different places as I want it to all be the same color, including the seat covers. Anyone have any experience or recommend some one or some place? Thanks! Leonard

I'm just SICK!!! Went out today to show a friend my car. I backed it out of the garage, first time in about a month, when I got out I noticed a crack in my dash. At first I thought it was in the windshield, or my eyes were deceiving me, then looked closer and it IS in the dash. It has been crack free from new until today. I don't know what happened to make it crack. No one has been near it, nor was it cracked last time it was out. It has been colder in the garage over the 26 years it sat than in the past week. I can no longer brag about a crack free dash. What a bummer. I don't know if Hagerty would cover anything like this or not. Bonzi Lon

I am a relatively new 1973 240z owner. The car has the after market a/c in it. I have been very impressed with the knowledge contained in here, I have answered many questions just by reading, thanks all. However, I think there is a easy answer to this question, but what it is eludes me at this point. Had my first oppotunity to need a lil heat in the car. The heater controls did not work exactly as I expected, but that could be because of the way the a/c sits on the air input. Nonetheless, all was well, except than when dumping heat out the bottom, while the passenger seat side was toasty warm, the drivers side was nothing but cold air. I suspect some flap is not comp…

Does have a source they recommend for the rubber grommets? Specifically, I am looking for the large grommet that the cowl drain hose slides through-- Thanks

Hey guys Went to the car wash today to clean the Z. While cleaning the interior on the passenger side I noticed that there is a spot of surface rust behind the passengers seat. (pics below, the stuff on the seat rails is foam material not rust). What is the best way to fix this issue? Does anyone know where I can go (or get) paint that would match the interior? Thanks greatly Jan

I'm only 170 pounds, but when I sit on the drivers seat the springs sag-out and the cushion drops quite a bit. Is this a function of the springs, the padding, or both. The vinyl on my seats is in very good condition so I hate to rip 'em apart, but I would like a little support from the seats. Any suggestions?
