I spent the last couple of evenings installing a new set of MSA leather seat covers and foam. The old seats weren't in bad condition but I'm switching to a black interior so the butterscotch seats covers had to go. Overall, a very easy install. Everything fit straight out of the box. The new foams are definitely more firm than the old. I dropped the seat down by taking all of the spacers out from beneath the tracks but I still sit much higher in the car. I am 6'3" so I'm hoping that the foams will settle in a some and give me a bit more head room.

Has anyone had any experience in restoring an early series 1 shift knob? Specifically, the knob is in excellent condition except for the chrome mounting ring at it's base where some chrome has pealed off. I would like to remove this chrome ring and have it re-chromed without damaging the wood part. It appears that the chrome ring is glued to the wood mounting hole with some sort of epoxy. I hate to just go in and try to drill out the epoxy without knowing exactly how it interfaces with the wood. Thanks for any thoughts. Dan

I have a question about a piece of door trim that I may need but have never seen for sale. If I remember correctly, when I was preparing my car for the shop, there was a u channel trim that was metal coated in vinyl that went along the door at the top. It had a textured surface and was rusted out when I removed it. I have all the weatherstrips to replace. Is this a necessary piece? Do I have to try and find an old one in good shape? Thanks. carl

Since I just got my "resurrected" 72 on the road and drove it at night for the first time, I noticed a severe lack of illumination for the HVAC controls. My 280Z controls are lit. I feel like Helen Keller, trying to adjust the controls in the 72 at night. Are they supposed to be pitch black? If so, do you get used to it, or has anyone added some kind of auxiliary illumination to light up that panel a bit? I was thinking about adding an LED or two that would shine up from the center console to front-light the panel.

I noticed today that one the knobs on my climate control is gone. NO idea where it went. I know it was slightly cracked. Guess it gave up the ghost and decided to go to that parts bin in the sky. I am missing the knob for the heat. I can look on ebay, but does anybody sell these NOS?

Alright, so i have a '77 280z, but i need new carpet and im on a budget. I went to home depot and they have some pretty cheap carpet and there is a black short fiber carpet i decided i could put in my Z. Any ideas on how to put home carpet into your Z?? There are molded carpet kits out there but im not really looking for something to spend a few hundred on just yet. I just need something that doesnt look like crap for a while until i can afford it. Ideas anyone?

Ok rebuild is not the word i mean but you'll get the point. I bought this 72 half ready, engine is okay but interior was screwed. I've been restoring the original plastic panels and now its time to move on to the doors. I need to know how to install door windows properly, i have renewed window channel rubbers. I have the factory manual and How To Restore your Z car book but i still like to hear it from you guys. I also miss some clips to hold lock cylinders on that lever that opens lock. Door panel installing is also ahead so advice needed on that. Is there any way to remake that silver stripe on door panels? And for the last, is there some clips also holding the wind…

Is there any way you can refurb a stripped window regulator? I have the original window regulator but its stripped so i cant really roll my windows up and down. Any ideas?

I'm replacing the choke cable firewall grommet, the old one has long since rotted out. It's got a snout on it. Does the snout point into the engine bay, or into the cabin? Thanks
