I've had a front end squeak for a couple of weeks - it was beginning to bug me so I did some reading and the symtoms sounded like a bad bearing. This made sense to me because I had liberally greased all bushings and checked the brakes for wear (no sweat). Bought the parts, removed old bearings on offensive side (looked perfect) installed new and reassembled as disassembled (re service book ) . Check rotation of hub - good, installed caliper - half rotation good other half light friction. Bled brakes, installed wheel. Checked rotation - friction all the way around - what the !!!. Just stopped raining - going for a spin. I'm no mechanic. What do you think? Perplexe…

I am looking for wheel spinners/knock offs that would fit 14" American Racing Libre wheels. I have been watching e-bay for quite some time with no luck. Anyone out there have a set they want to get rid of? Thanks Matt V

I have a 78 280Z that has 14 inch mags. I want to upgrade to 15x7 in mags. What tire size should I use? Any recommendations on brand and source of tires and wheels? I have been a Michelin guy for years but I am open to talk about a different brand. My driving will be normal touring and town driving. I do not expect to do any handling rallys but will push the car on the country roads in my town so a good balance of handling and tread wear would be nice. Thanks for your attention

Here's the deal. I've got a total of 5 stock 4 1/2" steel wheels, four from one car and one from the spare of my parts car. The matched set are date-coded 4-71, the odd one is 3-71. I need to make one of the five a spare for my normal car. I could use the odd one, but it's going to take a fair amount of prep work (strip and re-paint). Or I could use one of the others that is ready to go, but that would break up the matched set. Now, remember that none of these wheels are the proper date code for my car, they are all 6-8 months too late. So it really doesn't matter to me which one I use in the spare. But if someone else might someday need/want the matched set, that would p…

I'm steadily getting my Z lookin' good, and now it's time to do something about the wheels/rims. I've got that white oxidation-looking stuff and some black stuff in the pits of the aluminum that just won't come clean. I don't want to scratch it all up with an abrasive because it may never look good again. I noticed that most aluminum cleaner is an acid. I've got some muriatic acid around and was wondering if that would work? (diluted with water, of course) I'm not much into paying a major amount of money for some special product that may or may not work. Any other suggestions? Advice?

The car has always weak brakes. The Booster appears to be working. Just replaced MC and booster hoses and check valve, new fluid and bled lines. Still poor braking. A mechanic who has lots of experience with 240's is urging me to replace the stock front 2-piston calipers with 4-piston. He says they will most likely dramatically improve braking on the car. Has anyone used the Motorsports 4-piston brake upgrade kit(about $400)? Another option I'm considering would be to go in an completely rebuild both of the stock front disc brakes(new calipers pads etc), but the same machanic feels that would be waste of money, saying they are working fine. My dad bought this car new, an…

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forums and have been searching for an answer to my problem. So far all the advice I've read, I've already tried. Here's what's going on. I replaced the master brake cylinder and bled the system. I started with mc first, then to the calipers furthest away first. I have pressure for the rear brakes, calipers and at the mc. But on the front I can't get pressure at the mc or the calipers. The only thing I didn't do was bench bleed the mc before I put it on. And from what I've read I've got a 50/50 chance it'll help if I take it off and redo it. Does anyone have any more ideas? I'm not a super mechanic but I do alright, this has really go…

My $35 wheels 1 2

Picked up a set of wheels of craigslist for $35! After emailing the guy to confirm size, bolt patter, offset and of course if they were actually only $35, I immediatley left work and drove to pick them up. They definitely need a little elbow grease but they are gonna clean up nice, they are 14x7. The one on the left is after some wet sanding and polishing. Any ideas about how to clean the mesh part?
