I have a 1971 240Z, with an 11/70 production date. This past weekend, I went to remove the air cleaner to check and / or replace the air filter as needed. Problem is, I never got to evaluate the air filter, since I could not get the air cleaner off, obscured as it was by the master cylinder. Upon further investigation, I have found that the master cylinder currently on the car has the bleed screws pointing in toward the air cleaner, as opposed to the correct placement toward the fender. Also, the reservoirs are same sized - obviously not stock correct for an early '71, and not even like the '72 and on examples I have seen in my recent research. The brake lines, howev…

I have a missmatched set of tires 2 Pirelli 195/70SR14 and 2 Dunlop 185/70SR14 one of the dunlops leak so I was looking for a good deal to replace all 4 on ebay. First does anyone know what the S stands for?? these are the tires that came with it and it had been sitting since 1991. The Z is getting ready to get on the road and I need to replace the tire. I was looking at sets on ebay and I cant find anything exactly the same size so I was thinking of going for a tire with a slightly lower profile(60) since those seem to be more available. What chages with the lower profile (economy, performance, handling, etc...) and are there any brands to stay away from. the ones I fou…

I have been slowly going through my new acquisition, and I finally found the key for the wheel lock on my 240Z. I was curious who the manufacturer was for the wheels on the car. I pulled one wheel off and found that there was shelby printed on the back side! I didn't even know that Shelby made wheels. I just figured that the cobra caps were kinda hokey. I guess that it is much cooler now that I know that they actually go with the wheels. So, as you can see in the picture above, the rim is broken, even though the tire still holds air. If I could, I would like to find a spare for this one wheel. Are they out there? Is there a good source? Should I just look …

I am in the process of refreshing a 70 240z build date of 6/70. It still has the original Toyo spare tire as a spare. How do you deem an old tire like this as serviceable?

Hello, I am trying to get my brake system put back together and have a question about connecting the tubing and the 3-way connector in the rear. How difficult should it be to screw/tighten the tubing into the connector? I find that I can go about 2 turns and then it becomes very difficult to tighten anymore. I have cleaned the threads. The 3-way connector is new from Blk dragon. Thanks for your help. Skip

Hey folks, I know that the original road wheels had a silver-gray base coat, with a quick coat of flat black on the face. But were the spare wheels the same? Or did they not have the black paint on the face? I ask because my Series 1 came to me sans spare. I have one out of my parts car, which appears to never have been painted black. Does that sound right?

Hey guys... since I didn't see a group buy forum, I figure this appropriate place to post them. Originally I posted these on hybridz, but since all Z guys can benefit, goes to you too Rota Grid 16x8 Rota Grid group buy info Sportmax 002 15x8 SportMax 002 group buy info Both of the wheels shown are on my car, and all the information is in the threads regarding contact, pricing, and specifics about each wheel. Hi, saw these on Craig's List Seattle. They're not mine, but maybe someone here would be interested. Not sure if you get both sets for the same price, but here's the listing: http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/car/187625633.html Gary

Hi guys - long time no type. I'm taking my Z to Thunderhill for a track school day, which I've done before... this was pre-restoration, and pre-engine rebuild. With maybe 150HP, I was hitting 130 and having a scary time stopping after the first couple laps. Well, now I've got more like 200HP, and I haven't done a thing to the brakes. Stock rotors, calipers, drums, wheel cylinders. Only mod is SS lines. Master and calipers were rebuilt about ten years ago (wow, already!), and I'm using cheapie pads. Rear brakes are in excellent original condition, and surely I must have replaced the shoes at some point in the last thirteen years of ownership. I have a BRE spook replic…
