Hi I have a clue. I want to upgrade my brake sist. but Im not sure what to get. MSA have a rear drum brake conversion to disc and also for front brakes have 4 piston calipers and vented/sloted rotors kit. Been looking for wilwood kit that offers Arizonazcar and the look super for me. Im sure some one can drive me the right way. What do you recommend to me as a better brake system. Thank You.

Hi all. Hope everybody is having a good summer so far. 106 today. Whew I just bought rebuilt calipers from MSA. I also bought the Nissan brake hardware package for the calipers. When I unwrapped the rebuilt calipers, they also had hardware, however there was one extra part, besides the shims that came in the package. I gave them the old calipers without breaking them down, so I didn't actually get a good look at how the parts went together. I can figure most of it out except the rebuilt caliper has what appears to be a tension rod/spring, that is not in the Nissan hardware kit. It looks like this goes on top of the antisqueal retainers and is secured by the pins…

Hey folks - some advice please. It looks like I have a line on a set of 'D' hubcaps and matching early 4.5" stock wheels for a reasonable price. I really don't anticipate ever using them on my car, but since they are the proper vintage, should I get them just to have in case? Given that my car will not be all original ever again, and the original engine is long gone, should I bother? What do you all think?

I keep a pretty close eye on these when go up for auction on Ebay and if I remember correctly, about a year ago or so a set went for a little over $1,200.00. The general member consensus was that they sold for a record price. Well, here's a set that has already surpased that $1,200.00 milestone: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=270003260875&ih=017&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT

Brake Shims 1 2

I've got the dreaded brake squeal, it is now time to do something about it (well it has been for a while). I've read that these can be bought from MSA, but i can't see them there: http://www.zcarparts.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=SBC I've also read that brake grease can solve the problem, but doesn't always. So, i figure that if i'm going to do something about this then i should do it properly and get some shims. Where else can i get these from? Is there anywhere in Australia that has them? Could i make them myself? Thanks, Jon

I just put a loaded caliper set up front, new wheel cylinders in back w/ new shoes and a new brake booster with master cylinder. I drove the first 70 miles no problem then one day I went to a friends that was 20 miles away, when I got there the brakes were soooooo hot and the pedel was so hard to push. I waited for about an hour or more and the brakes worked fine( cooled off) when I pulled up at home the pedel was hard to push and they were hot again. every time I get in the car I don't go that far because it's getting worse. when they are hot the brakes work on their own. It's like I'm drivining around with my brakes on. It sucks. help!!!!!!

I know I'm crazy, but I've found another beautifull set of JDM wheels and I'm sorely tested! The fronts are 15 X 7 @ 0 and I know they fit, but the rears are 15 X 8 @ 0, I'm I'm not too sure... Any body running 15X8 @0 on a stock (non coilover) car? http://forums.club4ag.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=113064 Wouldn't these look F'N HOTTT??!?!

I got the new Toyota s12+8 calipers with the vented rotors on lst night. The slotted rims dont clear the caliper, probably by 1/8" or 1/4". But my question is how much of the wheel stud is needed for safety? Right now, without the wheel spacer, the wheel studs barely stick out through the holes in the wheel and the lug nuts probably grab about 1/2" of thread. Are longer wheel studs needed, or longer lug nuts, or is it safe?

I had the car garaged over the winter, and have picked up a new battery so I'm about ready to pull her out. Work has been killer, so this didn't happen two months ago like I wanted. During the storage time, I had the parking brake set, as my auto tranny's park gear doesn't work. I should have just used a cinder block, but hindsight as they say, is 20/20. Anyway, when I put the brake handle down, there's little of that "feel" to it. I can't push the car in neutral so I imagine the brake rusted in place while the car sat. What, in your opinions, would be the best way to release the brakes? I'd like to avoid taking the wheels off just because I'm lazy, but it's not out o…
