I need to know more about the wheels that are on my 240Z. I am going through a restoration and I need to know if I should change the wheels, or stick with them. In the picture I didnt have the center caps installed. They are being rechromed at the time of the picture. Year: 1970 Model:240z Build date:5/70 SN: HLS30-04661 Image:

dealing with a 72 240Z here.... when taking apart the rear suspension for coilover install, i decided to re-do the wheel bearings as well. when taking off the nut that holds the axle in place, the two were diffrent sizes (driver side vs pass side). also, the axle spline/companion flange are different sizes as well (driver side companion flange wont fit on pass. side axle, vice versa). is that supposed to be like that or was an axle replaced by a po? if so, how can i tell which was the origional???

Hi, folks, I'm looking for some opinions on the origins of the wheels that are on my 1972 240Z. These were on it when I bought it, and I'm about certain that they are from a later date and different vehicle. I've looked around for quite some time to try to put an identity to them, but have had no success. They are marked "Nissan" - "5 1/2-JJx1435" - "M83" - "40300 W1510" I really did not care for them very much at the beginning, but they have grown on me to the point where I just may polish them up and keep them on the car! There are others that I like much better, but there are other things in line for my paycheck that take priority (kid, wife, house, pets, cam rep…

I've got a 73 240 with wheels from an 81zx. For daily driver riding I want the softest possible ride so I'm thinking about a kumho 195/75/14. 195/70 is the standard recommendatin. Does anyone know if they will clear the wheel wells on my stock 240? What's the largest width that will fit? Go ahead an flame me for the soft ride but its either soft ride or sell it. The kybs helped a lot. Besides I'll keep the summitmoto 205/14/60s around on another set of wheels for autocrossing. tks Don

To those that have done the front brakes on there Z's, What type/brand grease did you use on the moving parts of the caliper and anti squeel shims? It's got to be something that can hold up through extream heat. Thanks in advance to anyone that can tell what worked best for them.

OK, so I'm in the process of finishing up the front disc conversion w/MM's kit. Getting it all back on and, hmmm...there really isn't a whole lot that holds the wheel on is there? Hub rides on the spindle via the bearings, outer locking nut and the caliper are the only pieces of hardware that acutally keeps the wheel 'on' the spindle...or have I totally forgotten about something so obvious that I need to be banned from this place?:stupid:

Does anyone know the total lenght of the brake lines in a '72 240z? One of mine was cut out or I would just measure myself. The reason I'm asking is because I ordered a 17 piece kit off Ebay, I just got it and it doesnt look like enough. This is the same kit I got: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/17-piece-metal-brake-line-kit-Datsun-Z-car-Toyota_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ34199QQitemZ4646990000QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW Thanks guys! Zak
