I'm looking at getting some sportier tires for the 280Z. The ones on there are great for touring (s-rated), but I think I rolled one during autoX.:hurt: and I wasn't even pushing it (first time out.) The OEM size is 195/70-14 On the fronts I'd like to put 195/60-14, and on the backs 205/60-14 (Fuzion HRi, which is aFirestone/Bridgestone composite) The front diameters would be 1.5 inch smaller, which will help with a clearance issue, and the backs should be the same diameter, so the speedo is still correct. I bfigurethat the front might be a tad lower, but that would be a good thing, andthere shouldn't be a difference in weight distribution, balance, etc. opinions? thx

I have finally sorted out my brake situation (at least I think I have) ... First question ... how long is the normal brake travel for a 75' 280z? Mine only seems to engage after about half way down. Secondly ... when I push all the way down on the brakes should the brake light in the console light up? Mine does this when I push hard on the brakes. Is this normal or is it a warning that the brakes aren't working right. I have replaced the Brake Master Cylinder, replaced all the brake fluid and then bleed the system (I am 95% sure I did it right, it was my first time, but I did it twice to be sure). I just took the car for a test drive in a parking lot near my house and it …

Im looking to change my rear drum brakes to disk. I would like to have suggestions of which ones are best. Im interested in a simple conversion, does not require large modifications and is inexpensive (less than $500). Does it exist?

I have the old style Western turbine wheels, with the close-vaned ridges. IIRC, there are about 30 vanes. My dilemma: No one around here (including pep boys) supplies a cleaning attachment either small enough or less than $80 that MIGHT be efficient in cleaning inside between the vanes. I don't want to put out that kind of money without being sure it will work. I have seen a sort of "power ball" that fits in a drill motor, but that is too large. I have purchased a few sheets of scotchbrite pads of various roughness. If I can manage to fab an arbor, is it possible to cut the pads to a roundness and diameter large enough to sufficiently clean these wheels without putting m…

Okay, I'm getting ready to order my Watanabes. I've decided to pay the extra loot for the optional magnesium color. Now, I can't make my mind between machined lip or not. It's an additional $25 per wheel. I guess at $560 per wheel, another $25 isn't that much. I just can't make up my mind. The polished lip are pretty, but the all one color wheels look tough and menacing. The car will be either green or DARK burgundy.

Hey...I'm new to this forum, so bear with...although it's much like importatlanta which I'm familiar with. Anyways, onto the topic. I don't have a Z...or even a nissan. So I need rid of these to build my engine for MY project. I hope you have good use for thses...I don't really know their value, so I'm hoping I dont' get low-balled. I've been told these are from an 80-82 N/A 280Z or ZX...they're in damn good condition, VERY few marks, rims only, center caps and lugs included. Set of four, no bends/warps. Here's a picture... i'm willing to ship, but I'd prefer meeting you somewhere...but I'll ship if the price is right, but the buyer will be responsible for all shi…

I've recently come into a little bit of money, so I'm seriously considering spending it on a set of Watanabes. They're a bit pricey, but SOOOO COOL! I'm gonna ZG flare my car, since it has a little rust above on of the wheel wells anyway, and Wabbies would look awsome. Help me justify this purchase!

I am in the process of locating a set of Watanabe wheels for my 1970 Fairlady Z. Unless I purchase a new set (expensive!) or get very lucky, I'm going to have to get reasonably close to the optimum offset. I am looking at 15" diameter wheels in either 7" or 6.5" width. I have been using an offset wheel calculator do determine overall effects on inner clearance, etc., and have done a search. What is the maximum amount of inner clearance loss I can go with a stock suspension/brake set-up? Asked a different way, what is the maximum amount of positive offset I can go in both 6.5" and 7" widths without having a problem? My preference would be to NOT use spacers. Thanks i…

It has the stock slotted rims, but me being new school style, I want to put on a set of 17' First of all- what is the bolt pattern size? 4-114.3? 2- If i got a set of 7x17 rims, off set of 40 mm-205/40/17. Will these fit? The tire diameter is pretty close. I plan to roll the fenders. Can you please let me know? Thanks

Here is my Z with the Panasports I got off Ebay. They are 16x7 and have Hankook Ventus R-S2 P225/50R16 tires on them. The car needs paint, but once done, I think they'll look great.

See pic. These are stock rims off of a 78'. The tape reads 15" from the edge of the rim to the other edge or about 14" inside the edge. What's the correct way to measure the size of the rim? Or, saying it another way, what is the stock rim size on the 78'?
