It looks like I might have gotten stuck with some BBS wheels. The pattern is 4 x 108. Some (enter expletive here) advertised them on Ebay as 4 x 114.3. The wheels are 14 x 6 with 22mm offset I am trying to resolve this will the forementioned gent but we will see. If I do have to re-list them I would like to give the next guy the right info. So far I have found they will fit some of the older Audi cars. Hoping somebody know a good place to reverse the fitament chart or something. I should have bought the rewinds. I also wish I could talk Victor into shipping me his set of Revolution wheels. Come on Victor.. I will say please and get you a helicopter ride if I am in So. Ca…

After a careful drive with something strange definately going on, and after about half an hour plus of bashing with a rubber mallet, I got the drum off to find the problem. My drum brake linings had disintergrated. I have never replaced these things whilst i have had the car (8 years) and they still had plenty of meat on them, but it seems they have just bit the dust. So I guess it's time to replace them now... :tapemouth It stuffed the drum lining as well, so I'll have to get that machined too. Gee these cars are a money pit, that like the 4th thing I've had to fix in 8 years. but at least I got home safe. That could have been bad.

I recently bought 16x7 Panasports with a 0 offset for my 73 240z and need to buy tires but don't know what size to get. I have decided to go with Yokohama AVS es100's. I don't want the thickness of the sidewall to be to low of a profile or and the same time to be too high. I estimated a 225/50/16 should be fine but wanted a second opinion. I also want to lower the car so that the fender line sits right above the tire maybe even tucking in a 1/4 of an inch. For that reason I don't want the tire size causing rubbing or any other problems. Thanks for your help.

I'm in the middle of the toyota/300zx brake upgrade on my 71 240z and I need a wheel spacer. No one in town has one. My spacer needs to be about 11/16" to make my 300zx vented rotors line up with the caliper. When everything is aligned correctly, there is a very low clearance for both the caliper diameter (1/8") and the width (1/32 each side). There is plenty of room for pads, but that area above and below the pads where the rotors pass through the calipers is very tight. Its not rubbing. I wonder if its too tight. Since I can't find spacers locally, I put 10 washers on each bolt to create the space that I need between the hub and the rotor. This setup doesn't seem …

Hi All, I need to remove the stub axle to put a maxima caliper bracket on for rear brake conversion. Can I take it out without out both bearings, oil seal, spacer etc all coming out as well? I had the bearings replaced by a shop about 3 months ago and it hasnt been driven since so the Stub axle should come out reasonably easy. Also, with the 280zx (r30 Skyline I think the same) calipers, can they be operated with just the park brake cable attached or do they also need hydraulic pressure? I just want to hook some sort of braking system up to ship the rolling shell. Thanks

When the car is off, and I pump the brake pedal, the pedal feels nice and firm. Then when I turn the car on, the pedal drops a bit (couple inches) into the area where it works during driving. On old Z's is it posible that the adjustment of the rear drum braks can help the pedal stay a little firmer when you brake (because they engage first, perhaps?) Is any of this making sence? I just feel like my brake pedal could be firmer, because it has been in the past, but it fluctuates sometimes. Finicky old car, hehe. Any help is appreciated.

Hello everyone, I am planning to polish my mags in a few weeks, but first I wanted to get a complete agenda ready on what I am going to do. Here is my list so far: 1. Take wheel off. 2. Clean with degreaser, back and front. 3. Wash wheel with hot soapy water using a non-scratching stiff bristle brush. 4. Thoroughly dry. 5. Start sanding with 80 grit to get the curb rash out of 2 wheels. I did not rub up against a curb, the previous owner did. (One wheel will not be perfect because it has some very bad curbrash, but I think I can still get it to look real nice. It is unfortunate about the one wheel though. Oh well.) 6. Sand with 100, 180, 220, 400, 600, 1…

Has anyone had any experience or knowledge of the new Michelin Exalto A/S performance tires? I'm leaning towards these tires (205/65-15) for my 240Z but am I just throwing good money away on the Michelins when another brand will be just as good. Any recommendations on a performance tire. I don't plan to be racing my Z. thanks

Hey all: So when I bought my Z from the PO about 8 months ago, the brakes were not all that great. He said he replaced the MC. I added new pads, new flexible lines, bled the system multiple times and still have problems! Here's what I know: 1) The brakes engage without significant effort, but at the bottom of pedal travel. So, while the car stops and the brakes engage immediately, I cannot lock up the tires, and have no pedal travel... The pedal feels very "loose" until it finally engages. 2) If I pump the brakes with the car off, I can feel an improvement in the pedal resistance, and it almost--feels--normal. Until I turn on the engine when the pedal goes to the f…

I want to upgrade the old rubber brake lines to my Toyota 4 X 4 front calipers to the stainless ones. Does anyone know the length of the ones supplied with any of the brake upgrade kits supplied by MSA or MMS. Thanks
