Over the past year, I've been trying to educate myself on wheel fittments. But I sill don't know what the "J" or "JJ" size definitions mean. I think it has something to do with brake caliper clearence, But I'm not sure. My 15X7 SSR MKII's are a "J", whilst the Advan A3A 14X6's on the Roadster are "JJ"'s Que es?

ARRRGGHH! I'm in the final stages of assembling the newly minted front end on my 280Z. Bolt on the new, MSA-purchased discs to the hubs, grease up the wheel bearings, and slide it on to the axle. Push it back and put in the front bearing, lightly screw on the nut. Spin the hub. It is rubbing on the backing plate! Huh? So I measured the height of the "hat" above the disk surface. 1/4" higher than the original 280Z discs! Then I measure the hats on my 240Z. Also 1/4" higher than the 280Z disc! I knew that the hubs were different 240 vs 280, but I didn't know that 240Z/280Z discs were not interchangable. Bolts up fine, just too thick. Am I crazy, or is this com…

daddz had these on his '81 ZX. They are 16x7 unknown brand stamped made in Mexico, with 225/50/16 Michelin Pilot. I like the way they look, now I need to get my hands on a set of 16x7 RS-8 black or gunmetal with a polished lip. Anyone have any leads?? Camera Phone Pics, Sorry. A little upgrade from these 14x7 slots with 215/60/14

I was reading with interest the front and rear disc brake upgrade written by Terry Oxandale at www.zhome.com/rnt/FordPower/BrakeUpdate.html. Has anyone else tried this? It sure sounds like a straight forward and cost effective approach to 4 wheel disc brakes. I have looked at the commerically available kits (Outlaw, Arizona, MM) and feel that the cost is reasonable for items provided but more than is needed or necessary for a street driven 240Z. I like the idea of using all Nissan parts too for maintanance purposes.

I am currently installing the 4-piston front brakes from MSA. They came with Stainless Steel flex lines. However, those lines are not the original geometry - they have a female fitting with a 17mm hex that works fine at the body hard-line connection, but the other end is a male banjo fitting. MSA instructs to just connect that male fitting directly to the caliper. This bypasses the original geometry where the flex line would lead to the strut bracket, and then a hard-line to the caliper. It LOOKS like it should work - there is plenty of line, and rotating the steering lock to lock, it seems as though there will be no rubbing (as long as I route the line appropriately…

For those of you with 14 x 7 rims, what are you doing for rubber? I'm not finding any performance tires available in my prefered size of 215/60-14. My '73 is a weekend/occasional track day car only - it doesn't come out when wet or worse so all I care about is dry performance. As it's not a daily driver tire wear doesn't matter too much, as long as it's not ridiculously short. I really like my Enki 92 black mesh rims and don't want to get rid of them.

I am thinking of upgrading the braking system on my Z. I am going for new rims anyways but I want to make sure they clear the new brakes. I was looking at a beefy setup, but nothing is possitive yet. I was thinking of 12.5 inch to 14 inch slotted rotors up front with 4-piston sliding calipers. I know those would clear an 18 inch wheel, but what about a 17 inch wheel? The rears I'm not too worried about. I will hopefully being doing a drum-to-disc conversion and sourcing some 9.5 inch or so rotors in the back with probably 2-piston calipers. Thanks in advance. Dave

my friend is offering me free wheels for my Z. they came off his old grand am. they are konig 6 spoke's that are a silver color, with a deep groove down each spoke. we went to put them on today, and BAH! they dont fit. the tire rubs against the sidewall, and the lug studs dont even reach the wheel (by about 1 inch.) well the tires mounted on them are P205-65-R15's, and the wheels themselves are 15x6.5 JJ. on the back of them, they've got an "00" on one spoke, "10" on another, "No.099" on another. i dont know what the "ofset" is.... will these wheels fit with ease if i get a "spacer" for it? you can tell, ive rebuild an entire Z but i have NO idea about wheels and tires…

hello. i've recently purchased a '71 240 after much research(this site helped a great deal). the car came with almost everything needed for the 300zx brake swap.toyota 4-piston calipars, 300rotors,jsk spacers, but no bolts.i've learned through these forums that i will need 10mm x 1.25 x 40mm long (10.9 hardness). is the 1.25 the thread pitch? how about the bolt head? i've contacted motorsport and they do not sell just the bolts. any ideas of the best place to make this purchase? is there anything else i'll need? the swap looks pretty straight forward, anything i should specifically watch out for. any or all help is greatly appreciated! i look forward to many more discussi…
