just curious because i had to have my entire brake system changed out. On a 280z why is there a second brake proportioning valve on the firewall for the rear brakes when pn all other models there is only one proportioning valve? i ask this because that valve of mine was broke hence why my brakes failed and when i tried to get it from nissan they said it was discontinued but the other valve wasnt. And also 240z have the same exact srtup for brakes and they only have one proportioning valve which is the same as the first 280 valve so why the second valve?

I'm getting ready to put the Toyota 4x4 calipers on my 73 240z. I'll be keeping the stock solid rotors. Given that the Toyota truck isn't what I'd call a "high performance vehicle", I'm wondering what others have done for brake pads? Are there any sources for something better than stock? My driving is mostly agressive street, with a few track days each year for good measure!

Hi all, Did you see how MSA now has a kit they want to sell for $$$ which allows the use of those 84-5 300zx VENTED front rotors on the front of our Z with the use of some 4piston caliper... Well, see how their kit includes a spacer to go between the disc and hub... I've included a pic here... Has anyone found this spacer elsewhere, like if someone wanted to get JUST the spacer and not pay MSA the $600 for the whole kit.... Ever since I saw that red Gnose on the lift at StarRoad in Japan (see pics in my gallery) with the Z32 calipers and vented front rotors I've been looking to do the same... -e

okay, i have been researching this for a few weeks and i want to know EVERYTHING before i begin. i've searched several forums and have recieved mixed answers. my big question is: if i have a 1972 240 and i am going to do the rear disc swap with the maxima brackets and rotors, calipers, and master cylinder (15/16) from a 1979 280zx, what is the story with the proportioning valve? a few sources say that they have used the 240 one, a few recommend the one from the 280zx, and a few say that you don't need one at all. the reason that the last one makes sense is that the front discs on the 240 are larger diameter than the 280zx ones, and hence the proportioning valve would seem…

If you have a 71-73 240z with ZG (japanese) fender flares and running 15" RS Watanabe wheels, what is the widest (in inches) you can run in the front and the rear? And what offset? Please give me your suggestions, and if you have any pictures, please link it...thanks!

Does any one know where other end of this spring is supposed to attach to? There is no mention of it in the Hayes manual, but it does show up in the Victoria British catalog. i am going into my first auto cross race next week. what kind of pressure do you guys run in your zees? i am also going to do some drag racing at a track. would the pressure be any different in that situation? i have a 71 240 by the way.

Can anyone tell me the tire size for a 75 280z with the stock aluminum aloy rims? The tires on there now seem to be wider than they should and I think the raidius is smaller, resulting in incorrect spedometer readings.

Anybody ever here of a ZX with gold trim and wheels? I have found one but its just for parts. Im interestead in the gold colored mag wheels. There are a few other things to, but i cant realy afford the whole car. Anybody know where a good place would be to look for thease? Or does somebody here have a set they will part with? Thanks Bill

I was just looking at the Motorsport website at the Panasport wheel prices. They list the 15"x6" size at $189.95 and the 15"x7" size at $219.95. I intend to put 225x15x50 tires on them. Is it worth spending $30 per wheel more for the 7" wide size, or would it make much of a difference? This is going on my high speed autocross car. TIA, Marty

Hello all, Well my brake servo has gone on permanent vacation. I'm looking for options, so far the best I've found is a remanufactured unit from VTB. Not a bad price at about 130.00. Have any of yall used these? If so what did you think about the quality? Maybe someone out there has an extra working servo for a 72 they would part with? thanks dan

Hey, Does anyone know if SSR reverse mesh 16x7 and 16x8 with a +26 offset will fit on a 240Z without flares or coilovers? Acceptable range is supposedly 0- +15 right? Thanks for any help.
