Okay, I have been taking my 240z to the track more and more and had a brake experience that I wanted to share. Let's start with the setup: The car is a late 1972 240z with a 280 block and a recent rebuild with higher compression, light flywheel, ported head etc. The suspension arms are Apex Engineered front and rear and Stagg/Votgland shocks/springs(hope to upgrade struts soon although the Staggs have been crazy good for the price). All of this on 195 14" rim Falken Azenis. The brakes were stock in front with EBC pads and stock in the rear. The combo is a ton of fun until I started pushing the car harder and harder and I start getting brake fade. I had brake fade a f…

I am in the process of restoration of a set of Logan Blackburn's American Racing LeMans magnesium wheels. This is a set from his championship winning Z. I purposefully left his "trademark" yellow over spray on the inside of the wheels.

ignoring cost (assuming all options are the same cost), which is better on a 30mm lowered s30 on a 14x7 wheelset with zero offset. better on 2 levels: - handling - looks (more importantly!) options - 215/60/14 all round - 225/60/14 all round - 215/60/14 front, 225/60/14 rear does skinnier front not work in an s30s favour for handling? experences? looking at BF goodich ta (white letters) in all outcomes. thanks, Peter

At one point someone used to sell non-braided brake booster vacuum hoses. Now the only hoses I see are braided which are technically correct but carry a premium price. I have a '71 240z, built Aug. of '70 so according to MSA I need the engine side hose at ether $69.96 or $77.95 and the booster hose at $89.95. After shipping this will be almost $200 for two rubber hoses. I understand supply and demand, cost of development, manufacturing, etc. However at those prices the margins must be near 90%. I took my two hoses to two different parts stores yesterday hoping to find something that would work. Of course they did not have anything remotely close. I am going to che…

Techno Toy Tuning has released a micro BBK that fits under 14” wheels! Even some 13’s according to their site! Looks cool and should allow people to run vintage Watanabe style wheels. https://technotoytuning.com/nissan/240z/240z-micro-big-brake-kit

I'm in the process of tearing down my 73Z project car, and decided to make all new brake and fuel lines now. To save some money and not have to piece several pieces together, I decided to buy 25" rolls of tubing. I wanted to start with straight tube so I looked in to buying a line straightening tool. Well they wanted $100 for one and that was more than I was willing to pay, so I made one. This will work on 3/16, 1/4 or 5/16. It cost me $15 to make. Attached is a picture of it. If there are others interested in making one of these, let me know. If there's enough interest, I'll write up detailed instructions on how to build one. Paul (zbeemer)

I am installing 1989 Toyota 4runner calipers on my 240z with 1985 300zx rotors. The caliper is hitting the back of the rotor and needs about a 1/16" 1/8" to seat on the mounting bracket where it bolts to the strut. Has anyone else had this issue. I have the 240z to Toyota conversion hub ring from Techno Toy Tuning.

Hi All, First of all I've read several wheel fitment threads on the site. Please don't' shoot the messenger, still confused. Pushed into buying wheels and tires quickly (not good). Converted to vented rotors / rear disk brake conversion and now the 14" wheels do not fit over the front calipers. This would all be ok if the car was in my garage but it's 30 miles from my home in a service garage. The shame of spending dollars and having the car towed home, just doesn't seem right. Please only comment if you've have a similar config listed below. Only looking for confirmation on stock body (no flares) 240Z's. Specs: 1973 240Z with air dam (front valence …

I have finally narrowed down a shake in my steering wheel and bounce in my car to the 41 year old aluminum wheels. These issues, along with having to run a spacer for one of my Toyota 4x4 Calipers has led me to look for new wheels for the Z. I'm looking at the Konig Rewinds and Rota RB's but don't know what size and offset I should get to fit the car as best as possible. If anyone has upgraded to these wheels or has advise in general, I would love the feedback.
