This might have been covered before, but can any one tell me if a brake booster can be tested off the car? like with a vacuum gun? or does it need to be on the car with the engine running for any tests? I have 2 early 1970's servos, one was working when it was taken off ( about 13 years ago :classic:) the other is an unknown but is probably the original from my my 1970 so 34 years old!!! Or given the age of the components should I just get a rebuilt one? thanks for any help Andrew

Having a little fuss deciding if the change out to the later model master brake cylinder (MBC) would be a good idea in my series 1 240. Have a S1 240z with a "passed its best" MBC. The PO gave me a new later model MBC and I'm thinking of installing it. Apart from the swapping of lines, what else could be an issue. Bambikiller240 posted this reply. Can you assist us to expand the knowledge base.

Hello to all, my plan is to upgrade my front caliper. Only which one should I order for street use ? I use allready the biggest brake booster. Is it possible to use the vented caliper with standard non vented disk ?. Than I will be open for the future. If not, I would go for the non vented caliper's. Thanks for you feedback in advance. I'm afraid I've inherited Marty's brake bleeding nightmare. I'm also using speed bleeders, have Toyota calipers up front and have just completed a full suspension upgrade. The good news is that the car is on the ground (for the first time in 6 months) and started like a champ. The coilover suspension is also very cool, very easy to adjust. The bad news, I have already gone through close to 2 qts of DOT4 fluid (which was in there before) and still next to no pedal pressure. When I start it the pressure goes away completely. I really doubt it's the master, it worked perfectly last year with the same set up, and I believe was replace by the PO about 5 years ago. Any miracl…

This is my first post on this forum. I'm in the process of finding new rims and tires for my 71 240z. I really like the ones pictured on the car in this article http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/features/0107scc_bondurant/ . Can anyone identify the rims? What size do you think the tires are? Also do you know where I can find out more information about this car? Thank you Jason

According to this ebay auction the Z32 brakes will replace the hubs converting not only to 4-Wheel disc but 5-lug as well. Being moderately new to Z's can someone tell me if this will work? I am a little suspicious since I have never heard anything about this before. Thanks http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=2479831765&category=33564&sspagename=WDVW

Can anyone tell me the backspace for a 84-85 4-lug wheel? I have a set of 15x7 Revolution wheels (made in England) with a 4.5 inch back space. I don't need them, but I'm trying to figure out how to list them. Thanks DK

Ok, a little background before we get started. I am doing a Toyota 4 piston caliper upgrade to my '71 autocross car. The brakes actually worked really well before I started, but the car is going to be doing high speed autocross at the track, so I wanted something even better. All the parts went in pretty easy. Finding longer metric bolts for the hubs was a trip though. Re-bending the caliper hard lines was a little tricky too. I put in new Speed Bleeders too. So, I start bleeding. Started with RR, LR, RF, LF, and then Master. I put 3 quarts of Valvoline DOT 3/4 Synthetic through and the pedal goes stright to the floor. Bleed the MC and all corners a dozen times e…

:stupid: Hello, This is my first post, so please be kind. I have just arrived back home in Buffalo NY after a weekend in Carlisle PA. I was attending the Import Nationals with some friends from my local MG club. I purchased a set of slotted mags for my 1971 240Z which is the next project in after I finish my MGB. On the back they are stamped with " Shelby CAL 500". Are these wheels any good? I got a smokin deal on them so if not , oh well. Should I keep them or try to move them on E-Bay? Thanks
