Wheels & Brakes

I have searched the forum for info on this, but could not find it. I have the steel mag wheels for my 240, and they have gotten real dirty over time. I was wondering what you guys have used to polish them up or clean them? I wish to restore them to look new without making a whole day of it. Is there a mag/wheel cleaner that you would recommend Thanks for any help you can give. -Marc.

I am in contact with someone who is looking to get rid of a 2003 350z. He is telling me that he replaced the brakes already with 10,000 miles on the car!! Is it possible that Nissan hasn't learned about brakes in 30+ years?? Or is this guy riding them like an old lady? He doesn't have the Brembo option brakes on the car. thanks!

hi apparently, i have a 1979 280z with vin number HGS130. It has disc brakes for both front and rear. I am thinking of upgrading the front disc brake to four pot callipers. Do you guys know what are the options? Or interchangeable parts from other vehicle models.

Hey guys, I just got the brake booster off my parts car at the ranch. I think the diaphram on mine is leeking so I am going to replace it tommorow. Funny thing, my friend took the master cylinder off while unbolted the booster from the inside of the firewall. So I did not see exactly how it went together... I think I can figure it out but want to know if I should empty the master cylinder of brake fluid before I go at it... Or any other tips... Thanks

Has anybody ever compiled a COMPLETE list of automobiles which share the bolt pattern of a Z? Ignoring offset. Just the bolt pattern. If not, post here the cars you know and when we are done, we can compile it and put it in Tech Articles or something.... How do you tell if a master cylinder is bad? I am just at wits end with my brakes on this new car. Either that or the booster is working WAAAAY too good. The problem is there just isn't any pedal feel. My street car (280 with stock 7/8 and 280 Booster) has the nice gradually increasing resistance (motor running) all the way down. The new car has a 15/16 on a 280 Booster. The booster holds a vacuum and the system is fully bled (and bled and bled). The brakes work good, but there is no pedal feel. With motor running, it is just gush all the way down and then BAM! the brakes engage--hard. With motor off, brakes are very hard. I have gone through everything several ti…

What is the widest wheel and tire we can put on a Z>? I have a 1977 Z.... 2/2.... and i am looking at some wheels. I am planing to get 17x7 or 16x7... but i dont know how wide to go with my tires. I am not planning to run coilovers right now... so all i want to buy are some spacers. How wide should i go?

I have been trying to wade my way through rims but having a tough time. basicly i am looking for about a 16 inche wheel for my Z. Now what size wheel, tire would work best? Also my other question is where do you guys look. I could not find anything on places like tirerack.com or most other sites do not have a 260 (or 2140 for that matter) listed as one of the available cars. Just looking to see where you guys have been looking for some ideas. SuDZ

I'm in the middle of remounting all of my brake lines so they will be mostly hidden when you look under the hood. They will no longer run up and over the tunnel. I was wondering where other people might have ran their lines and if you have pictures. I would love to see different ideas. Here are some pictues of mine. At one time there was a thread with a picture that showed the different tire heights for the 14" tires. I can no longer find it. If anyone knows of it , please let me know. (about 5 different sized 14" sidewall to sidewall to show height differences) Thanks, TMH708

I have found a set on the internet. What are these wheels in 16X7 with less than half tread left on the tires worth? The guy is asking $750 plus shipping but that seems a little steep to me. What do you guys think?
