Hello Well i finally got back to work on the Z after a 2 week school in Kanasas, right before i left i replaced the brake master cylinder, installed rebuilt front calipers and both rear wheel cylinders but ran out of time! yesterday i tried to bleed the system, i bled the master cylinder then the wheels RR,LR,RF,LF the problem is i have no pedal feel, it goes to the floor with little resistance, i had the rear jacked and the brakes will stop the wheels, i have clean fluid to all four corners and no leaks, someone told me i needed to bleed with the engine running (power brakes) i've never heard of this and was wondering if anyone else has? The brake booster seems to be w…

Today at the MSA show I saw a Z converted to rear disc brakes WITH a backing plate. This looked very right! I don't remember the color of the Z only that it was on MotorSports side of the street, right around the front just off to one side. Just the rear rotros looked trick but not ALL tricked out. Which is cool. But with the backing plates it looks all OEM. Very cool. Very trick looking without having to be. If any of your cats have any information or what this finishing touch entails please post! Also good to see Victor, Steve, and Mr & Mrs chino240z.

Question, If I simply remove (and plug off) the vacuum line to the booster, what will happen? I would rather my car did not have power brakes. Personally I hate the way they feel compared to regular manual brakes. Anyone ever tried to bypass it before?

my z has had this problem since i bought it. the wheel rubs on the fender when i am going fast and hit a good bump. it is worse when i have another person in the car. i thought the springs were weak so i got new ones. now thw problem is not as bad but it still happens. the springs lowerd the car by one inch. i have heard offset being thrown around. is that what might be the problem? my rims are offset too much? can i fix that with spacers? wouldnt spacers push them out further and make it worse? or could it be something else?

Hey guys, whats up? Been away on duty. My wife tells me how my "Lady" is doing all the time. Today she told me that the front and back brakes are leaking fluid on the drivers side. I asked her if she could see where it was coming from. She said that there is a "nipple" on the caliper where its coming from. copuld the fitting just need to be tighten, or do I have to do a drake bleed when I get home? :tapemouth

Over the weekend I helped a guy out at the Easternats (local car show/comp). He had a 260Z 2+2 with a tunnel rammed 308 engine. He was having problems with poor brakes, spongy pedal going to the floor and lousy stopping power. In order to compete in the burnout competition he blocked off the rear brake lines and also had a leaking master cylinder, he admitted that the brakes had been allowed to run out of fluid. A working master cylinder and booster from one of my cars was fitted to his car but the problem still remains. Any ideas on what could be wrong? would the proportioning valve be directing fluid to the blocked off rears? As far as I know the system was well ble…

Hi All, I'm having fun and games with nicely seized flare nuts on my brake lines at the moment. In particular the ones on the strut leg mount. Looks like I'm going to have to get new S bend hard lines unless!!! Can you get braided lines that will run directly to the caliper from the inner fender mount to the caliper? All the kits I can find just seem to be replacements for the rubber lines. I've checked the usual suspect websites but with no joy. Any ideas folks? Cheers, Rob

Hey Guys, I am replacing the rigid brake lines on my Z. The thing is I need those clamps that hold the lines onto the car on the underbody. They are just basicly something to keep them from flapping around and posssibly braking or something. Whenever I have gone to Autostores to ask for them though , nobody knows what the heck I am talking about. Does anyone know the real name for this part or if it is common to be able to pick them up somewhere? SuDZ

I am changing from my 14 x 7 rims to a 14 x 6. I have got 215/60/14. I know these tyres will fit, but do you think the increased tyre wall roll will be noticable? Edit: Ill give you a bit more information, I am changing to the 280zx six spoke rims, which i thought were 14 x 6 (?). Is it possible/advisable to get these rims altered to be 7' wide? Thanks for your help. Luke

Hi All, I want to do a big disc conversion, probably from Arizona Z, and so I need to get bigger wheels first. I've got 14x7 Wolfrace slot mags on at the moment and really like the 70's look so I was wondering if they were available in 16x7. I've searched all over the place and haven't been able to find any though apart from some specially made split rim replicas which sure ain't cheap. Any ideas folks? Cheers, Rob
