I'm in the final stages of the resto of my early-'71, and I noticed a problem I've not seen before. When I start the car, the brake pedal drops. It really drops. If you press on it, there's no additional travel; those brakes are on. Rev it up, and they release. It didn't do this before the restoration; they worked fine back then. Why is the vacuum having so much affect on the booster? What changed?

I've been fighting a wobble in my steering for a while on my '78 280z and took my wheels to be balanced again. One wouldn't balance right so two of the wheels stayed to be looked at by wheel repair man. Now I know that the rear diver side wheel is bent and the front one is bent less badly. I have the 5 slot aluminum wheels that I believe were offered as a dealer option so I'm not exactly what wheel I should be looking to buy. So, if anyone has been through this sort of situation any advice on how to fix the wheels / what wheels I should be looking for to replace mine.

I recently purchased a 240Z that came with a set of 4 Keystone 15" x 7" aluminum wheels and some old P195/65R15 tires that I had professionally removed from the wheels. I didn't care for the look of the wheels and I plan to put them up for sale soon. I have attached a few pictures of the wheels, but I have no idea what to ask for them. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Steve

I have been noticing there is a loud noise produced whenever i step on the brakes once i crank the engine and start driving out from the garage. The noise comes from the rear brakes. How do i get rid of this noise? Will i need to open the drum brakes and sand any parts?

Hello all. Looking for some ideas here. After a unfortunate winter incident, my z has sat for almost a year. Started and ran a number of times to keep the engine and such happy, but as I get into it today, my once very firm brakes are totally gone. Push the pedal and there is almost no braking. Before it sat it was a amazing feeling pedal and worked flawlessly. Any ideas as to what happened and where I should start? Cheers and many thanks. Caltanian.

I am still chasing my hard pedal / brake locking up issue. I have taken the brake system apart so many times I am now need to replace a couple of lines. I plan to just go ahead and replace all of the lines. What is the best pre-bent line kit out there? I believe I will go with steel and find someone to zinc plate them for me unless someone is selling a plated set. Thanks in advance for your input on this. Jerry Purcell

I just never seem to learn. Needed some 1/4 to 1/2" spacers for the last couple of sets of front wheels I've had on my 510 to get them to clear the coil overs and fit the car right. Everybody does this to trim-out-the-fitment thing. Well I went to the speed shop and bought some that are 3/8". How hard is it to get a flat piece of metal with some holes in it? Well I learned the hard way, again. Very hard apparently. The only ones they had were, shall we say, not very expensive. These cast aluminum or unknown pot metal something's are absolutely pieces of you-know-what. I have been battling wheel shimmy for months, and never dreamed it would be these things.…

I converted my 1971 240Z to rear disc in about 2006. It was a kit like The Z Store has but I don't remember if it was from there or not. Now I've got a leak on 1 caliper and can't match parts. It list 85-86 Maxima but that doesn't match what I was remembering. It sticks in my mind as a 240SX possibly. Anyone remember what it might have used in that time frame?

just backing out of the garage today I could tell something was stuck. driver side rear was so stuck I could remove the lug nuts with the tires in the air (neutral). Rubber mallet used to get the hub off. the adjuster has only out about 3/16 thread showing, I turned it in and all was fine. BUT there was a large amount of brake dust, and it was oily at that . Mostly around the top of the hub which I found odd since there is no oil source up there (cylinder is on the bottom of my 75). I check and the E brake cable seemed ok but really need someone to operate it while I watch I suppose. Will get spouse on the job for that, she was not around at the time. anyway the oili…
