For those of you thinking of a switch to Maxima rear calipers on their S30 I have a bit of a warning. I installed the Z Car Depot rear emergency cable brackets on my 1976 280Z. I am using the larger 11.4" / 289 mm rotors off the Canadian model NA 300ZX . This requires a 1986 Maxima rear caliper which has a larger frame offset than the smaller 10.1"/ 256mm . Note that reman calipers often have the wrong frames supplied. So it can be a real PITA finding the correct frames for the larger rotors. Took us Four sets of calipers to finally find the correct ones. Note. A-1 cardone and Centric seem to be the only manufacturers that list the different frame brackets. A…

What is the biggest tire you can put on a 240Z with Panasports 15/7 -0-offset WITHOUT RUBBING? Original OEM were 195/70 Currently I have 195/50/15 ZR and i want to go taller and wider....but dont want to rub.... Thinking of a 215/65x7, would love to go with 225/60/7 Changing rims is not an option. I like these.

I am curious of how the offset works. There seems to be so many choices. I am looking for a 15/16 inch wheel that I feel like 8 inch would be nice look. I would like to see the wheel come to the fender possibly past abit. Really feel the wheel well with some sexyness. I am running 1 inch lower springs, no flares and stock everything else. What does offset do ? Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile

My drivers wheel cylinder leaks when I apply the e-brake. Does anyone have an idea why this might be happening? It doesn't seem to leak during normal driving. Thanks in advance for any ideas. Cheers, Scot

Hey guys. Over my collection period here I have 6 wheel cylinders. I've been tempted to do a rear disc conversion but read mixed reviews and figure I'll just run it stock at first. Should I just clean up these old cylinders and pull the piston to see if shes in nice shape inside? Any other things to look for. I'm sure out of the 6 I must have 2 good ones! I just got a new set of drums from Arizona Z. I'd like to polish them, as they are visible rough the wheels, to look as nice as the front rotors.

I am looking at some Watanabes 15 X 7.5 with a +8 offset. I have a totally stock 73 240Z and wonder if this would rub on the wheels wells/fenders? My other choice is a nice Panasport 15 X 7 with 0 offset. Any help? thanks.

77-78 Rear Brakes - A couple years ago, one of my rear wheel brake cylinders started leaking so I bought a pair of rebuild kits (WAGNER F96618) from Rock Auto. Problem is that when I took my cylinders apart, I discovered that the rebuild kit would not work for my cylinders because the piston seal was a different design and would not fit. Here's a pic showing one of my pistons, and the seals. Old (leaky) one on the left with the large hole, and new one from the rebuild kit that doesn't fit my piston because the hole is way to small: At that time I gave up and just bought a new pair of wheel cylinders (AUTOSPECIALTY / KELSEY-HAYES W51104) and put them in. P…

Let me count the ways. So I bought a rebuilt brake booster from RockAuto: A-1 CARDONE - 535104 (53-5104) - Power Brake Booster $84.79 + $25.00 core = $109.79 I open the box and it's unpainted bare metal, and the metal that is exposed is deeply pitted. This thing was apparently a boat anchory rusty mess that they bead blasted back to "shiny". It's clear that someone sent in their completely tired worn out old dead booster as a core. There are also clear signs of physical abuse. Almost all of the clamshell retainer catches are split open and the case is dented where the master cylinder mounts. I guess I should expect some of that... As long as the pits don't go…

Hello Guys, 72 240Z. I'm almost ready to drive the car I bought last year, but I can't get a brake pedal when engine running. It feels pretty firm with engine off. I have replaced everything except booster and lines. I have bleed multiple times, so I'm sure of no air in system. In my experience when a booster is bad the pedal will be harder when car started. Any idea?

I need to replace the rotors on the '72 240Z I got in December. The rotors are badly grooved, both brakes are now howling once they get warm and the car is pulling left under braking. This car is my son's daily driver. Not a track toy. Looking for reliable braking with maximum longevity (there are plenty of other things to spend time/money on ) I have a couple of questions: 1) Is there much benefit to moving up to slotted/drilled disks? Would they wear out my pads faster? The current brakes are capable of overwhelming the traction, so it doesn't seem like I need more power. Not interested in going to slotted if there's no benefit. Down the road I'm sure I'll upg…
