When I look at early pictures of my 1970 Race Car it has a set of these wheels on it. I don't remember having these or what I did with them. I bought and ran Minilite Wheels. How difficult is it to find a set of these in 14X5.5's? I know that VTO makes reproductions, but am interested in a period set. JLP

One of our largest national car parts supplier in Canada is Canadian Tire. I needed new front wheel bearings for #249 so I checked them out... "National Bearing" Made in China. I tried a local supplier and requested Timken. They could only obtain SKF:. Part # 18864 Inner Seal (Taiwan) Part BR2 (LM11949 / LM11910) Outer Bearing and Race (Japan) Par BR6 VP Inner Bearing and Race (Brazil)

Hey everyone, I was at a car show (the Z took first place!) yesterday and was talking to some other folks who have cars of the same vintage of mine with similar mods (Wilwood calipers, etc.). One of them was getting older and decided he wanted more brake assist, so he installed one of these: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-760152 or https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005JV7O6S/ref=psdc_15706961_t2_B0030Z666E Or something just like it. He fed it into the intake manifold of his V-8 (it was a 1973 Z28 Camero) and said it made a huge difference for him. I've got the triple weber set-up, and the vacuum for my master is generated from just cylinder #6. I…

I couldn't find a thread with this info: What are the calipers used in these two upgrades: http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/CTGY/classic21k http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic21l/24-5705 Is the second one the one in this thread: http://woodworkerb.com/home/datsun-240z-rebuild/toyota-front-disk-brake-upgrade/ I purchased and installed the first one above years ago, and I'd like to be able to service it without going through Motorsport Auto (they're pretty tight lipped about what calipers they used). Thanks in advance, Christopher

I would like to introduce another high quality new reproduction part from Japan. It is for 1969-1973 Emergency brake cable assembly. It even come with pins at the end. They are NLA from Nissan. I own few NOS ones, but these look just like original ones, and made by named brake company for a shop in Japan. It cost about $250 each. Esprist

I was messing with my booster and master cylinder the other day. The white o-ring was laying under them. Did it come from inside the brake booster ? Thanks

All, I have a 78 280z. The car has the 280zx rear disc conversion. The rear lines had been damaged and leaking. I bought lines, swapped them and bleed all 4 corners and as well as bleed the master cylinder thru the bleeders on it. The pedal is hard as a rock, cant lock the brakes and it takes a lot of pressure to slow down Checked brake booster, it holds vacuum and the pedal felt softer when i drew vacuum so that rules out the booster. I checked vacuum at engine at idle and its riding around 14 to 12 inhg which is low. I checked compression and i get around 145 to 150 psi on the third pump on all cylinders so compression is good. If i pu…

In my car I can push the brake pedal about 1/3 to 1/2 of the way down before much of anything happens, at that point the brakes feel pretty normal and behave well and predictable (in my limited experience). I am trying to figure out if and why I should have such a gap in the pedal travel before the business starts to happen. I suspect the rear drums and their adjustment. Here is some backstory: 1971 240z New: master cylinder rear cylinders front caliper/pads Rear hardware Old: Rear aluminum drums rear shoes Master Cylinder was successfully and convincingly bench bled. Pedal Push rod and slop are adjusted and minimal. The moment you pus…

I decided to start a thread on my front end overhaul since there is many items to replace. Started off by disassembling the suspension parts.....disconnected brake lines (lots of heat needed on some fittings) . Next, remove tie rod end ( tie rod fork and several good blows with a hammer).....then the two bolts attaching the torsion rods to the control arm....next, the two bolts holding the calipers (removed them) and the one nut under the grease cap and remove the rotor, then, the sway bar end link, then remove the three nuts holding the strut under the hood (get someone to help so as not to torque the ball joint connections too much) and lower the strut and remove the la…

I posted this over at hybridz, no response (Imagine that). So I did the 280zx rear disc conversion and the eibachs. Now my rear brake hoses rub on the parking brake cable bracket on the 280zx calipers and cause the hose to rupture. This has happened 3 times now since the conversion with probably less than 100 miles. I have tried rerouting and bending the hoses but nothing seems to be working. Anyone else have any ideas? I have thought about ditching the eibachs and going back with the OE coils but really when the suspension fully compresses the result would be same. Everyone would have to have this happen if they use the factory bracket where the brake hose and har…

Hello, I recently bought a 78 280z and it came with a rear disc conversion installed. Both my rear lines are kinked and leaking and i am trying to identify which kit it is and where i can source 2 braided rear lines. By searching around it looks to be the silvermine kit. The mounting bracket looks like its theirs. the caliper looks like the maxima caliper. I would like some confirmation from those that have more experience since i am a newb in the z world and its upgrades. I have looked at various sites and they all sell the kit, but none sell the brake line alone. Thanks
