I've had this nagging thought that I should check the wear on my front brake pads but haven't done it. Recently I started hearing a mild crunchy noise while braking, especially at low speed. I tried braking with just the parking brake and no noise so took a wheel off. And decided it was time to install my new Posi Quiet ceramic pads. See pictures. The Posi Quiets have their own, already glued on, shims and are not supposed to need more. So I left the factory shims off and haven't heard a peep except for a touch of squeal when braking in reverse. But the stock shims did that too. So if you have squeal and can't get the factory shims, these pads seem to do the…

Howdy, Hoping someone can chime in. I read several pages of posts, but was only able to find information about the 240Z cars. I am looking to replace the After Market Clutch and Brake Master Cylinders with factory correct parts for my 76 (9/75) 280Z. I think the clutch slave for my year was manufactured by Nabco Japan? Can anyone help me confirm this? As for the Brake Master Cylinder, is it Tokico or Nabco? I know they used different manufacturers and it is unclear what years the transitions occurred in. Trying to get in the ballpark, so to speak. Any help is appreciated. Thank you! ~MattS

My brake booster stopped boosting last night. Kind of a surprise, but thankfully no brown. I took the booster off my car and I would like to open it up to have a peek inside. I've tried a couple methods to get that sucker open but have been unsuccessful so far. I know several of you guys have succeeded in getting the booster open, but I couldn't find pics of any of the rigs used to accomplish that feat of strength. Has anyone got any pics of what they used to hold and twist?

My 240z has the stock 4 LUGS black Pearl wheels with 14 inch tires. I would like to upgrade it to 15 inch wheels but without doing any mods to the suspensión or brake system. I really like these wheels: https://whiteheadperformance.com/product/american-racing-15x7-polished-slot-mag-wheel-kit-0-offset-4x114-3-vna695748-datsun-240z-260z-280z-280zx-510/ What type and size of tires will i need?

I just wanted to confirm the process for bleeding the master cylinder while on the car. The inly instructions I've found seem to indicate you can attach a tube from the bleed screw on the side of the master to the related brake fluid resevoir and simply pump the brake pedal until bubbles are gone. No need to open and close the bleed screw as you pump the brake pedal as you wood when bleeding the calipers and drums. Is that correct or do you need to open and close the bleed screw with each pump of the pedal. Thanks, Steve

I've bought 2 new ones from rockauto.com but the hardline position is off from the OE ones. I'm going to try and figure a way of making mine screw in by bending the ends that go in the wheel cylinders. If someone had a picture of the routing they used I would appreciate being able to see how it's best done. Hopefully it's an easy job but I've never bent a brake line on purpose so I need help on this. Thanks, Cliff

Im rebuilding all the brakes on my 280Z and now I am at the NP-valve (Proportioning valve) and the Brake indicator switch. The parts are ok, but I would like to replace all the seals. The NP-Valve is still availible at Nissan under P/N: 46400-P9200 but it cost $325,00. The Brake fail indicator switch is also only available as a complete unit. Internals are NLA. All I want are the internal seals and o-rings. Does anybody know where you can get the kits these days? Appreciate any help.

I made the mistake of getting some S12W calipers off a toyota and was confused into thinking they would fit onto the stock S30s. I recently found out that they will not fit without Z31 vented brakes? Is there anyways to fit them onto my 77 280z while still having 4 lugs at all? Could I get the vented front rotors off of a 280zx or maybe even an AE86? Anybody have info on this? Ive tried searching around a few sites (hybrid, here, some other places) Thank you
