This is looking at the passenger brake parts. Apparently they are on the wrong side of car. Is that right ? You can see in the pic that the brake line port is facing towards the rear of car. Where the emergency brake cable attaches is facing to the front of car. I'm going to have to switch them, aren't I ? I don't want to ! Thank you.

My brakes on the 280Z are fine with the stock discs and normal pads, but in a heavy rain, on the highway, it was sort of scary when I wanted to brake for slow traffic- it felt like the brakes weren't grabbing at all. For a second or two, it feels like there are no brakes, then they grab some, and get better.. So is there anything that you can do that isn't too involved to improve the wet-weather braking, like a certain kind of pads? I though of adding a shield over the disc.

No, it's not about driving up a steep hill at 20mph in 4th gear ... It's about replacement lug nuts for the authentic Libre wheels on Zup's immaculate silver 73 240z. In looking at his car, my eye was always drawn to the deteriorating condition lug nuts on the wheels. I became determined to find a quality set for him that would do justice to such a nice car. I quickly found that it is not so easy to source the correct lug nuts for those lug centric wheels. The standard M12 x 1.25 spec is no problem but in the correct shank & washer style with the all important shank length is difficult. I found a quality set of Mcgard t…

Sincé i am replacing also the Master cylinder with a OEM Nissan Master Cylinder and i will need to bleed the brakes, what brake fluid is recommended and should i also consider changing any other parts now that i …

I recently purchased this 78' z and was aware of the thumping at the rear end when I purchased it. I replaced the rear struts, which were leaking. I also replaced the strut mounts. I have 16" tires all around. The Nissan dealer says it's because of the over sized tires. Is this true or do I have another problem? I probably should explain further. The thumping noise occurs on both sides when I hit bumps. I thought it was because of bad struts. When I replaced the struts the problem did not go away...... Thanks!

Hello everyone. The snow is on the ground in northern MN, so it's time to park the Z and get it ready for spring. First on my list is this tricky brake problem. The previous owner purchased the Wilwood brake kit for both front and rear of my 240Z from Design Prodicts in CA, and while they were on the car, I've removed and checked them as he bought them a long time ago (1999) and the car sat until 2012 when I bought it. I've got about 7,000 miles on the car now, post the complete restoration. But, they do this annoying thing...sometimes, more in early part of the season, they pull mostly right but sometimes left when you step on the brakes. I've flushed the system …

It was weird, I would feel a shimmy in the front that would even show up at the steering wheel. Thought it got worse after I had a flat in the passenger front tire and it was removed patched and re-mounted. Checking showed the wheel was balanced correctly. Also, it seemed to get better after making a turn but returned soon after. While driving with the shimmy, I pondered the condition when I remembered that the last time I had the rear end jacked up, turning the rear wheel showed an area where the brake was dragging. But after a few turns it seemed to free up. Thinking I might be feeling the brake dragging, I pulled the parking brake at 30 mph and released it. Sure enough…

Hi, could you guys share your wisdom please. What's the difference of the rear brakes from early to late 240Z's Found separate listings for backing plates and for cylinders. Could find some google knowledge on the cylinders, they differ in the point where the brake line enters the cylinder. Or is there anything else? But what could be the difference of the backing plate?? Why I'm asking? I'm searching for parts for my 73 240Z

A search of the forum didn't bring up a definitve answer on what people are recommending for a rear/front aftermarket disc brake setup for the 280Z. I am looking for a 'street' functional setup that will look and perform well. I would like to go with a performance look like the Wilwood or Brembo caliper and reatin the rear parking brake functionality. I understand this will probably necessitate the use of larger wheels too. Please post up your personal choices and reasons why. I like the TTT rear kit but the front looks a tad too aggressive for me. I'm thinking of something along the lines of the rear 300ZX kit with a better caliper. Thoughts?

I haven’t seen anything like this in the forums and it maybe another way that everyone is doing this. Anyway, thought I would add my way. I recently installed a Brake Booster on my 1976 280Z. When it came time to bolt up the master cylinder to the brake booster, I knew that I was going to have to make an adjustment on the push rod that goes into the master cylinder from the brake booster. If you have ever done this job, it's sort of guessing game on just how much you should turn the push rod in or out. After looking at the whole setup for awhile, I think I have come up with a way that will get you pretty close. - Insert a small screwdriver into plunger opening of maste…

I know everyone has there take on what looks good to them, but every time I see a Z with small fat wheels it just looks right, as soon as the rim gets big and the tires go lower profile it just looks wrong. Now this limits brake options (or at least nice big modern rotors) Do you guys have recommendations for modern brake kits that can put discs on all 4 corners but still fit in a 15" wheel? (might be able to go to 16) I'm not taking this thing racing regularly, maybe the odd track day, but am trying to be a restomod type car where I put more modern components in my build (suspension/brakes)
