www.pmbperformance.com That was the site that conedodger told us about. I sent off my old painted brake calipers after the rally when they began to pull hard to the left each time I hit the pedal. Eric @ pmb performance took them apart and rebuilt, polished, and then restored them to factory new. He even put the brake pads I wanted in them (porterfields I believe), and the return service as outstanding, as was the communication. I had both pistons badly pitted and one was sticking in the bore. I am more than pleased with the results... here is what I sent him... Here is what came back... Standing ovation for this company as far as I an concerned. I can r…

I have done some searching and cant seem to find a diy or a list of sorts, just something saying you can have the rear's redrilled. Is that what you do to the fronts as well? Or is there a hub assembly from another car that one can just throw on there? what about the z31 front and rear? could I take parts from one of them? Thanks.

Hi, I have a '73 240Z that I would like to add rear disc brakes to. I have found this kit on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280487850819&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT My question is if I go with this option, do I need to also upgrade my master cylinder to the larger 280Z bore and or do I need to add a new proportioning valve? I have tried to do some research on this and can't find a definite answer. My feeling for this kit, since it is just using maxima calipers and 280Z rotors, is no. But, I would rather have a consensus before I start this and find that I should have. The car is just about ready to come out of…

I have searched for awhile using the search forum option, and have found some useful info....but, looking for as much detail as possible. For those of you who do not know, I am a school teacher that is learning this trade on the side. I have always been a Z enthusiast, and have loved learning things as I go. This is just the next step. I have purchased new rotors and calipers (loaded) for the front and new shoes/drums/hardware for the rear. I have the car on jackstands, the rear drums off, and have the front calipers off. The rotor is making me scratch my head. I have read to hit it with a rubber mallet and various other options to remove it. Currently it is soak…

I live next to a mechanic on his apprentice course who has taken a liking to my rim/wheels. He has offered to change all my tires over to his rim/wheels an put them back on my car. He recently helped me with my 240z (on which they are currently installed), which was partially race prepped by the previous owner. I don't have any experience with this aspect of my car, and am wondering if there could be any reason asides from aesthetics that the previous owner had in mind when using these rims/wheel/tire combination. Here are photos of what's on my car and what he wants to trade me for: His photo is the one without the tire.

The fluid level in my MC front reservoir drops over time. I tried the 30 minute on the brakes with cardboard under the car w/o any visible leaks. Any other diagnostics I should try to narrow this down?

The brakes on my car have been terrible for a while now and I finally determined that my brake booster is bad. I put a vacuum pump on it and it will not hold any vacuum. I replaced the booster a few years ago and I remember doing the same test and it having good vacuum. The booster was under warranty so I have another one coming, but the issue is it will not be her in time for this Sunday's AutoX event (which I will be running with or without a functioning booster). I'm trying to figure out if there is any chance I can repair my existing booster for Sunday's race. There is some magic gasket that always comes loose and only takes 10 minutes to fix right? Seriously th…

Help.... I bought some aftermarket rims for my 1971 240Z... They had "rally tires" on them which are extremely hard sidewalls. I took them to my favorite mechanic and he would have nothing to do with removing these and recommended a truck/farm tire store who did the job.. Now I have the rims and will strip them down and repaint them. We did try one on the car and they look great (but shabby). Now, for the problem... These will require half inch shank lug nuts but I am concerned that the ones I have are too narrow. I suspect I will need to order lug nuts, hopefully, from Nissan but first I have to identify the rims. I did the google search thing and came up empty...or at l…

Can anyone tell me if the original 240z steel wheels are still available from Nissan? I am also curious about the hubcap type. I have a Series II 240z manufactured in 5/71 and was sold as a 1971 model. Does anyone know if my 240z should have came with the "D" style hubcaps or is the later "Z" style correct for my production month/year? I always assumed the the "D" style hubcaps were specific to Series I 240's but my early Series II share many of the same parts. Thanks, Matt

Hi all, I was if some of you guys can lend some info on trying to get a better idea on what proper size wheels I should get while having flares installed. I know there are several other factors to consider so just wanted a general idea. As of now the car is stock height and debating if I should lower it to active the look I want but before I do so wanted to figure this wheel offset/size issue first. Rims I would like to be at least 16's and probably a 1'' drop with flares. What would you fellow enthusiasts recommend? Also for the suspension if needed. THANKS!
