Hi all, I guess it's time for the next project on my '78. My brake light kindly came on to let me know that. I checked my reservoirs, and the smaller one was right at the low-mark. I topped it off, and the light went out. However, I know that doesn't fix it. I'm guessing the smaller reservoir is for the rear brakes, right? I haven't done a lick of work to the brakes in the time I've owned the car. Now seems like the time to go through it from front to back, refreshing/refurbing/replacing everything. However, this is my DD, so before I launch into this project, I want to have all supplies on hand. (I do have another car to go to the parts store if necessary.) …

I am working on this disc conversion. The SX brake caliper uses a banjo type fitting for the brake line, not a 10x1.0 inverted flare. Does anyone know a source of the brake line I'll need to complete this upgrade? Greg

Brakes lock up once the 280 1998 is driven to work and halfway home 25 miles to work. If I open the stem valve on the rear brake part of the master cylinder and let out a squirt of brake fluid they work just fine. I have the brake as far off the floor as it will let it go.

Where can I get these? Each wheel cylinder uses one with holes and one with indentations and they slide into position from opposite directions and lock together. I need one with the indentations.

Ok so my '71 240 had been sitting for years and I am in the process of getting it driveable. I have gotten fluid to the front brakes and they work fine. But, no fluid will even come out of the bleeder on the rear brakes. Right now the pedal goes halfway down with little resistance and then is firm after that (Im assuming the no resistance part is the pushrod moving through the rear brake part of the master and then it gets firm once it gets to the front). Could this be anything but the master? And if it is the master why would the fronts be working? I know the manual says that they are essentially two SEPARATE systems but I'm a little confused as to how that works.

Hello all, this is my first post. I am doing a staged restoration on a sun-baked '71 240 (more on this later), and need an answer to my tire question. The rims are dealer stock, aluminum slotted, casting shows 14X7.00 on the inside. Offset measures -10mm (yes, minus 10, the original dealer sold Oldsmobiles) which provides a deep dish, and some tire to fender issues (during turns) if the tires are too large. It has 185/70 14 on it now... yuck. Look terrible, and not a legal mount per width requirements. I have settled on two possibilties and need some influence from the community. Both of these fit the 7" rim: 195/60 14 Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S, or 195/65 14 Michelin…

I'm doing a rear disk conversion on my 260 and am using the Motorsports brackets with '88 Maxima calipers. My issue is one of the mount brackets on the calipers I have is very different from the other, one works and one doesn't. I'll post some pictures on Saturday. The calipers are exactly the same except for the bracket. Anyone else run into this doing a conversion with the same pieces? Thanks Dean

I am looking for any race brake pad manufacturer that makes racing brake pads for the Toyota 4 pistion brake caliper that goes with the "Stock Solid 240z' Rotor. I believe this caliper is from a 1979-1983 4x4 truck. It is not used with a vented rotor. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Greg

Folks, Maybe an obvious to everyone but me question, but how does one drain all the brake fluid out of the lines? I'll be starting on the rears (1972 240Z) Thursday or Friday. I'm planning on rebuilding the wheel cylinders and if need be, I'll replace them. The brake fluid in the rear reservoir is very dark and almost crusty looking compared with the fresh fluid in the front reservoir. One way or the other the wheel cylinders will be cleaned of the old fluid so I figure this is as good as time as any to get the lines as clean (i.e., removing old brake fluid) as possible. Can I just disconnect both brake lines, run tubing to an appropriate container and push the brake p…

I've made contact with a vendor who relines Aluminum drums. He may be interested in doing the Datsun Z drums too. He'd like to know the potential market before making capital expenditures. I'd like to give him as honest an estimate as possible. Responses would be greatly appreciated. Preston
