So I've been looking at these XXR 522's and was wondering if they will work fine, and what tires i should get for them.they are 16x8 0 offset 4/114.3. I cant decide between the flat black or chromium black, does anyone have any of these or have good pictures of what they look like on a 280z. here are the pics. 1010tires.com has them for 125.99 each canadian if you know any cheaper sites please do tell!

240z with stock suspension and brakes: About a week ago I replaced the wheels/tires on my 240z, having found an opportunity on Craigslist I couldn't pass up. I was running 205/60R/15 Bridgestone.. somethings... on the 280zx Honeycome wheels, and they would rub just the slightest bit at full lock. It was never really an issue. The opportunity I couldn't pass up has me back in 14" wheels, running 205/60/14's. The very next day after I had those tires mounted and put the wheels on my car, I ran into a local Ferrari guy who gave me the 205/70VR/14 Michelin XWX tires that came on a '79 308GTS he bought, but decided he wanted more aggressive looking tires on a Cromodoro st…

This may have been answered somewhere along the way but I haven't found it yet. Has anyone tried one of the "space saver"/'donut spares" from a late model vehicle in the spare tire well in a 70-78 Z? More specifically a 75? Just wondering if one would fit. I have converted to 5 lug so it has to be one with a 5 x 4.5 bolt pattern. Bryan

I just got my new rims and tires. Hyper Black Rota RB-R 16x8 +10 with Hancook H105 225/50/16 96V XL tires($110 each buy 4 get one free). I have a 73 240z. I went back and forth between the 16x7 and the 16x8 since for every one person that said the 8's would fit there was someone else that said they don't fit. I called 18 racing and they told me the 16x8 +10 would work. The rears fit with no spacers and I probably don't need to roll fenders at all but I probably will before I paint the car. The gap is around 3/16 to 1/4 inch from the tire to the perch. The fronts I read needed a 5mm spacer but I had some 3mm spacers from when I purchased the car so all I did was sand dow…

I took the turbo wheels off my parts car, glass beaded the wheels and have wet sanded the lips and polished two of them, so far so good. I may just sell these on ebay, they seem to bring decent money, to raise funds for the Rota's or use them until that day comes to get rid of my awful hubcaps that came when I bought my car from another 280zx. I was going to repaint the factory grooves where the old factory paint was that I media blasted off. (was gold) I was going to use the dupli-color graphite paint I used on my taillight surround and then clear over the paint. Here are my questions: 1) Should I clear that paint and the face of the wheel too? Or just clear over th…

Here are some pages from an old American Racing Equipment catalog from 9-70. These were all the four lug wheels and accessories available from ARE at the time and many were fitted to 240Z's. It's interesting that the Libre's are being marketed for 240Z's, but Le Mans wheels are advertised for European cars with "the smart continental look", such as the Porsche 914, VW, and Alfa Romeo. -Mike

The import parts dealer in these parts quoted me $99.50 each for "steel" brake drums. He's an older Japanese gentlemen, and his English is a little shaky. (I assume he immigrated as his daughter, who also works at the store, uses flawless English.) I had asked him if he could tell whether they were cast iron or aluminum. I've never heard of steel brake drums, but there's a lot I haven't heard of. Does such things exist? Or, as I suspect, the Japanese word/phrase for cast iron was misinterpreted when translated into the auto parts database as "steel." Chris

I have a 77 280Z that has the Z wheels on it & 190/70/R14 on it. I am looking to go from the 14" wheels & tires to 16" wheels & tires. I need 4 new tires an I was wanting to know what are some wheels that will work on this car an what are some to stay away from? An what are the tallest & widest tires I can go with minus adding fender flares to it? What are some good tires that would be good for year round everyday driving?

Just got my rims back after powder coating and polishing. They look great so I thought I'd share... They are a mesh/basket design by Modern, similar to the Enki designs of the '80s. Included a before photo with the black paint applied over the original gold color looking very tired and the outer rim needing a polish in the worst way. The after photos show the steel gray powder coating and the outer rim brilliantly polished. I'm excited to see them on the car.

I have read countless threads about this swap... I bought 1983 A1 Cardone reman calipers left and right with Beck Arnley pads, caliper part #'s 19-566 & 19-567. I have a 1983 turbo parts car I was going to use the mounting brackets for. I took off both side and the drivers side had this huge steel bracket. The mounting bracket itself appears to be part of the rear hub assembly. The parts car on the right side has what appears to be the correct caliper bracket I need. I am using Z race products hub brackets. Here is the picture I took of the left Cardone caliper, the caliper I pulled off my parts car and that large steel bracket. What am I doing wrong, and what do I n…

Hey, I just ordered a set of rims because the 1972 240z i bought only came with 3 and a donut. The wheels i ordered were 16x8 114.3mm at a +15 offset. I know the car is a 0 offset car but after looking i hoped they would fit. The rear wheels worked fine however the front two do not leave enough room to turn the steering wheel and they rub the strut at the top of the rim. Right now i am running two rims that came on the car on the front and the ones i bought on the rear. Does any one know of any way to create more space between the rim and the strut in the front so i can put the other two on the front? If you need pictures or any more information just let me know …
