I just picked up a set of used Toyota 4X4 front calipers for $35 today. Figured to use them for cores and pick up remanufacturred ones for $125 or so from Autozone. Is it worth trying to rebuild the used ones? They look kind of rusty to me, but the rubber near the piston seems soft still. Any thoughts? Better options than Autozone for a new set? Thanks!

Anyone else had clearance issues on the front when turning? Wheels are 9x15 with zg arches but the tyre fouls on the front edge of the wing and lower 1/4 valance. Any solution which possibly involves cutting metal? but interested to see any thoughts. tyres are 235/50 Toyo 888

The new Brembo rear brake drum deal never came to fruition so I've been working with a brake drum relining company (the do Pontiac, Buick, Oldsmobile aluminum brake drums) to develop a process for relining Datsun aluminum rear drums. The process is in place and we've got a test pair done. What I need to know is what price you folks (who are still running rear drums) are willing to pay for something like this. To give an idea of pricing for the GM restoration crowd, Pontiac drums go for $255 each retail.

I was working on one of my z's it is a 1970 240z that I am trying to get back on the road. I replaced the master cylinder, but can't bleed the rear wheel cylinders. I can bleed them at the hose in the wheel well but not out the bleed nipple. The nipple is clear. So I figured I would just rebuild them because the car may end up as a parts car, but there is no rebuild kit offered for the 70-71 wheel cylinder. I have plenty of 72-76 wheel cylinders laying around but didn't know if they would work in the 70-71 backing plate. Thanks, Charles

Here are the symptoms: -When engine is not running, the brake pedal feels firm. -When engine is started, brake pedal is light. Giving it a few pumps makes it a bit better. -There is a bit of play in the pedal when the engine is running. -The brakes are weak, but not spongy. Replacing the booster improved it somewhat. Here is what I've done to the brakes so far: -Replaced brake booster with a remanufactured one (old one was leaking from the shell). -Replaced brake lines with braided stainless steel lines. -Bled master cylinder -Bled brake lines, rear first. What's the diagnosis?

I am in the market for a set of dedicated track rims and tires for my 240Z. I am currently running Eibach springs, Tokico shocks, larger front and rear sway bars. Rebello 3.0 under the hood. I like what I have read about the Toyo RA1 tires but I am not sure what the best size would be for my setup. I'm liking the sound of a set of 205/50ZR15's on a set of 15x7's like this... http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/WWC19/25-1067 I think this should get me the grip I need without rubbing, coil overs or fender rolling. It should also give me a little lower gearing as the radius of these tires are smaller than stock. Lower gearing would be nice as I have the stock R180 in…

I just bought my 77 280z yesterday and the brakes are a little touchy. If you need to press the brake pedal quickly it grabs all of a sudden. If you slowly get in to the pedal it seems fine. The previous owner said he put on new calipers, rotors, pads, shoes wheel cylinders, drums and master cylinder. It looks like the original brake booster. Anyone else have any thoughts? Looks like reman is my only option. Any other ideas or suggestions would be great.

Okay guys I need some help as I have been chasing this issue around for nearly a year!! I have a mid 1971 240Z. I have replaced the master cylinder to a 7/8 aftermarket, both front calipers, disks, rear wheel cylinders, drums, and put in stainless steel brake lines. When I originally put in the master back in June 2008 we adjusted out the pin in the brake booster and switched the brake lines on the proportioning valve since that is what I read needed to be done with the aftermarket master. I just took the car to a shop to have it professionally bled and worked over. It did still have a leak but now it is all tight and airless. The issue is that the brake pedal will …

I'm having some issues with my tires rubbing on my inner fender wells. I'm running 16x8 (0 offset) with 225/50's and have already rolled the inner fenders but whenever I go over bumps they still rub. I'm still running stock suspension and thinking the springs and shocks are bagged out. Will replacing one or both of these fix my problem? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
