Hey Guys, I am way over-due for new tires on my '70 240z. I am looking for some great performing summer tires. I don't track or autocross the car anymore, just spirited driving on dry days only. Finding performance tires in 15" is getting to be a challenge. What are you guys using now, and what sizes? My current tires are Yokos, 205/60/15 on Panasports. That size does not seem readily available in a performance tire anymore. I look forward to seeing what you have and/or your opinions. Thanks, Marty

Hello everyone! I'm shopping for new tires this spring (my Z just turned 50) and I'm trying to decide between the three options available. The size is probably the limiting factor (225/45/R16) in choice. I've read everything there is online and even contacted TireRack directly. They suggested that the Dunlop ZIIIs will wear faster (that's OK with me) yet overall be the better tire. I have Dunlop "ZR" tires on it now, and I've been happy with them, but thought I'd ask this group to see what you think. I do not drive the car on the track very often anymore, it's mostly a daily that I zip around with. The link to the options at TireRack is here: https://www.tirerac…

Greeting, this question probably asked hundreds of times …. Here goes one more. Upgraded the standard 2 calipers to 4 calipers Toyota 4Runner. The S-8 caliper. Not the larger one that need thicker, vented rotors. I figure, the 4Runner is much heavier than the Z, no need to get the biggest, baddest of all. definitely the new calipers have better grab to the rotors. the question are. - is it worth upgrading the booster and the master cylinder from 280ZX? - what about only the master cylinder and uses the existing booster? much appreciate. regards

I can't find any reference to this anywhere in this forum. My car is an April 1971 240Z, so I believe the wheel cylinder is the early version. I'm cleaning up the rear brakes and reassembling the wheel cylinders. Inside the wheel cylinder is a spring (part 8 in the FSM diagram below). The diagram and associated text in the Haynes manual (which includes the same diagram) both indicate that the spring goes into the cylinder small end first. The exact text in the Haynes manual is "Insert the spring (narrow coil first) into the cylinder and then dip the piston in clean brake fluid and enter it into the cylinder. Fit the dust excluder and spring clip.". If this is t…

I have (2) used aluminum brake drums. ID of each measure about 9". They were painted black long ago and do not look pretty any longer. Are these drums of any value to anyone? Thanks, Dave

Brake booster developed a leak, got a replacement from auto zone (video later) odd thing was I had to install it upside down (the booster port was low and on fender side, now its high and on the engine side), for the holes to line up on the fire wall. There is a slight offset on the fire wall side between the 4 mount lugs and the main pushrod that goes to the pedal. Just wondering if anyone else noticed this? It was a 88031 IIRC booster from power brake exchange.

Does anyone have a picture of an S30 with 24" tall tires? Extra credit if the car also has 26" tall rear tires. Thanks

While this forum post is an excellent read, it still doesnt help me get any closer to actually rebuilding the stock NP valve. Any suggestions where one would find new O-rings, Y-seals, lip seals, and cup seals?

Ordered up a set of stock reman calipers from Autozone - picture on the website shows Sumitomo castings for the housings, but the ones I received have no such "SUMITOMO" markings. They visually match the Sumitomos that I currently have, other than the 20 years of rust on my originals, so it's not like they shipped me the entirely wrong calipers. Did someone start reproducing generic housings for these calipers at some point? I'm inclined to return them, and keep looking for ones with the correct Sumitomo castings - if anyone has good/bad experience with the various remans (Nugeon, Cardone, Centric, etc.) for these, I'd appreciate the info.

I am trying to get my 76 280Z 2+2 back on the road and currently have a brake line leak. It is about half way back on the passenger side. I am not real knowledgeable on repairing brake lines but was hoping to be able to just cut a section out and add some fittings and a short piece of brake line. Can someone that knows more than me recommend a repair procedure? What is the brake line size? etc. Thanks.
