As you probably read on my exhaust thread, I'm going bullistic on this rebuild. The 260Z is a 2/74' or Early 260Z. I plan on doing a thread for each of the highly involved mods, upgrades, improvements or projects inside the build. So this one is on my brake upgrades. I always hate looking deep inside 20 threads with 20 plus pages to find info on a particular upgrade that I'm interested in. So this one will have nothing but my brake upgrades, parts, prices, pictures and info. So here we go..... On the FRONT Brakes. I chose to go with the 1985 Toyota 4X4 Non-Vented rotor, 4 Piston Calipers, The part number on the calipers is S12-8. They are a direct bolt on using the sto…

Decided to take the long twisty way home today as we are looking at nasty weather for the rest of the week and the Z goes in the barn when moisture falls from the sky. So I'm following an RX-7 and we are going along at a pretty good clip. there is a stretch of road called the 7 sisters, it's a really fun series of 180 degree left right lefts. Divided highway, no shoulder, guard rails one side and a steep embankment on the other. Taking the turns at around 50 mph, the guy in the RX is using his brakes to manage his speed, I'm using the gas peddal and gears. He brakes hard fo one of the tighter turns, luckily I was far enough back that when I needed to hit the brakes, and f…

I'm thinking about buying some used 14X7 wheels. I have brand new 195/70 R14 tires on my stock steel 14X4.5 wheels. Are those tires wide enough for the 14X7 wheels, or will I need new tires?

I'm in the process of upgradng to Disc brakes on the rear of my 1972 (Built 6/72) 240z. When trying to bleed the system, I have the pedal go down about half way and seems to hit something . Also not very much fluid flows out the caliper bleeders. I do get some fluid from both sides and did bleed the master. The calipers DO NOT move the pads!! NO REAR BRAKES! The pedal will NOT go the floor when I open the bleeder on a caliper or on the master for the rear section. I have an aftermarket Master cylinder installed at this time. I just bought a rebuild kit a master cylinder and will install it on my old original master. I noticed the "ORIGINAL HAS TWO "STOP SCREWS" but the n…

Found a good deal on 260/280 rotors but it doesn't mention 240. Different part numbers for 240 at 3 times the price. Will the 260/280 rotors fit 240 or not? Thanks

"full set of Panasport performance wheels for sale. These are 16 x 7, and include lugs and caps. These are in like new condition. Retail $280 ea..................... Your's for $700." My question---:stupid: Are Panasport a better quality than the other brands out there??? Just curious with everyone's background history and knowledge. $700 is more than many other brands that are new. Is this one of those things, they are good quality, copied often, and some of the price is for the name??? Comments and opinions are welcome. Thanks! Jim D. "Zup"

Replacing my entire brake system. Notice some PO bent up the rear backing plates and presume using them to pry off stuck drums. Hopefully I can straighten them. What is a good sourse for replacements if not? Also since I am replacing my entire brake system and considering using silicone fluid. The inability to absorb water should make replacing metal parts less necessary in the future since they should not corrode as much. Am I wrong?

I am planning to get a set of ZG flares. I just need to know what some of you all are running for wheel/tire combo. I am going to mount the flares the "right" way (cut out the fender etc.), and I dont want the wheels to be set inward too far. I want the wheel to be really close to the outside of the flare. Like this......

Just in the middle of doing the front wheel bearings on my '72 and am a little stumped. Which side of the inner seal goes towards the spindle? The left (with groove facing engine) or the right (groove facing away from engine) in the picture? Thanks! Sorry for cross-posting, just realized there is a "Emergency help" category
