Hello all I finally have time to redo the front brakes on my 280z. In short the caliper on the right wheel is riding the wheel the entire time. The left caliper sticks occasionally. So I ordered a new set of calipers along with rotors. According to the manual I have to remove the rotor I have to remove the hub assembly, which contains the outer wheel bearing. I've never done this before so I'm rather in need of an explanation of how it should be done. Should I replace this bearing while I have everything apart? Thanks Jan

I am trying to find a couple rear brake items. I am in the middle of redoing the rear end of my car, struts, diff mount, bushings, spindle pins, etc. I am also tearing down and rebuilding the rear brakes. I have them taken apart, cleaned, sanded, painted. I am replacing the wheel cylinders, lines, shoes, springs, etc. In taking them apart, I found what is refered to as a dust boot, it attaches to the rear outside of the drum where the adjusting rod enters the brake. I have only found it one place, EBAY, and it is offered up for sale by REDDAT and I really do not want to go through him for (to alot of you on here) obvious reasons.:stupid: I looked at MSA and Black Dragon t…

As title says, MSA wants $98 each, Black Dragon $90 each for rear drums for a '71. RockAuto wants $28 each for, admittedly, aftermarket rear drums. Can't verify if MSA/BD are aftermarket also. Anyone get these and if so, did they fit and perform acceptably? I'm tempted to spend/waste the $60 (Saving $120-$140) to see if they're worth it.

Okay, so I have not done it myself before, but I think I have the general procedure down. I still have some questions however. This is the set I received from RockAuto. A remanufatured Nabco MC. The kit came with two bleeder lines and two green plugs (adapters?). I have the reservoirs and fittings that I will be bolting on soon. Now I believe this is how I do it but I am not 100% sure. Please correct me if I am wrong at any point in this procedure. 1. I screw these small green adapters into the bottom two openings of the MC. 2. Once the reservoirs are on the MC, I place the MC onto a vice. 3. This next step confuses me a bit. I know I am suppose feed the lines fr…

Got some "new" wheels and tires for the Z recently and just got around to installing them today. I think they look great. They are 14x6.5 Racing Hart (Hayashi) wheels with 205/60-14 tires. What do you think? Mark

I've spend 4 solid hours looking for these and all I can find is 5-ear center caps. I have 2 beautiful caps but the 3rd one had corrosion and the 4th does not exist (didn't come with the car) And while I'm asking for parts made of unobtanium.... The small bulbs for the 72 choke light and rear defrost on the fuse cover of the center console. Any one? Got a couple to spare? So does ANYONE know where to find the center caps or bulbs or possibly have 1 or 2 they are willing to sell? Here's what I need.......

Hi All, I'm new here, just bought a 78 280z a couple of days ago. It needs new tires, so I'm looking for some brand/model recommendations. I've searched, and mostly have found discussions on different sizes. I'm sticking with the stock size, so need a good-looking moderately priced tire. This would be for normal street-driving, weekends mainly. Thanks, Sean.

I have a question about which year 4Runner caliper can be used with the stock rotor. I know that it's the S12 or S12-8 (I have heard both and do not have one in hand to confirm which one it really is but it's NOT the S12W) but on one website it says '79-'83 yet someone on this board told me they used them from an '84. Is the website I have read incorrect or is this person simply mistaken on the year caliper he has?

I replaced my front right brake caliper a few weeks ago. It went rather well, easy install; saved some money doing it myself... Anyways, since then that brake has been making a high pitched shrieking sound when I approach a stop. If i brake harder, it will subside; but the slow easing into the brake causes the shriek. It's really annoying. Any ideas what has caused this? I reused the brakepads in the old caliper; and haven't changed the front left caliper (it hasnt given me any problems). My buddy said machining the disc might help; although I'm not sure if this is neccesary? Might new pads fix it? FYI - the old caliper was aligned incorrectly and rubbing the disc; th…

Is this size tire going to be too small? I'm adding eibach springs and tokico shocks so the car will be lower than stock.

I'm having some trouble getting my brakes right. They're working, but not the way they should. At first, they stopped the car fine, the vacuum assist seemed to work fine, but the pedal went down to the floor when I came to a full stop. Now, I'm feeling like theres almost no vacuum assist about half of the time. Sometimes the assist seems to still be working. I replaced the rear brake cylinders, rebuilt the MC, and bled everything (bench bled the MC). Parking brake is adjusted right. I did an "informal" vacuum test on the booster because I only have a MightyVac, and it seems to hold a vacuum fine, and it releases the vacuum when I step on the pedal. I checked the …
