Hi, I was trying to hunt down a brake fluid leak and noticed that the bottom of the brake booster is rusted and damp. The moisture smelled like brake fluid. A search on this site had me thinking that the master cylinder could be leaking fluid to the bottom of the booster thus removing the paint and causing the rust. I removed both the master cylinder (to replace) and booster (to clean and repaint). When I removed the booster I noticed there was really dirty brake fluid INSIDE the booster. Can I empty the fluid and reuse the booster or am I looking at having to replace it? Are these pretty straight forward to rebuild? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Sari

Can I buy a 14" rim at the junk yard that will fit my 73 Z (S30)? Or is there something special about the wheels and lug centers. I just need four used wheels and tires to get the car onto a trailer and bring it home. I don't want to have to go spend hour and hour getting the current set off and used tires put on and replacing the wheels. I am 200 miles from my car. So I want to buy a set of cheapo rims and used tires and just go swap them out. Thanks for your help.

Hi, I have a 240Z and I plan to use a 79 280zx front brakes, I been reading and it seem this upgrade is very simple, I plan on getting the MC, the front calipers and the front rotors from a 79 2890Zx, since I live in Mexico City it's very hard to come across these cars so do you think I might need something else to do this conversion? Thanks Gil

Ok, so I've got a question... Today while I was driving the Z, I came to an intersection and as I held my foot down on the brake, I started to hear a hissing sound -- my immediate first thought was "brake booster" .. as I kept driving I didn't notice the sound again (and obviously the brakes still work, otherwise I'd be writing to you from a hospital) When I got back home I left the car running and knelt down on the ground beside the car to press the brake pedal by hand to see what the story was. ... and oddly enough, the hissing sound is coming from INSIDE the car. I can hear (and nearly feel) the air getting sucked inside of the booster from within the cabin where the r…

I am looking to either rebuild my master brake cylinder on my series 1. But after scouting and finding out that rebuild kits are not available, what are the issues facing me if I just put the later 240z verison in there. One came with the car and is NOS. Yes I will have to redirect the lines as the are swapped about (front is rear and vice versa) and install new lines from the master to the pressure switch of course to get around the LHD vs RHD issue. Are there any physical differences I need to know about that could effect connection with the booster or anything else I may have missed? Thanks guys.

Sunday I had nothing at all to do. So I decided to go work on the Z. I installed the right upper door seal and then was done. Then I remebered that someone has in his signature the statement to the effect of When was the last time you checked the air in your spare? (Tomo?) I never had. And apparently never had my father-in-law either. The Bridgestone tire was brand new. It still smelled like new rubber. It has never been out of the tub. Check out the red and blue paint still on the tread ( held by my little tire wrangler). And what is the brass thing on top of the valve stem? The cover and deck still had the triangle stickers on them as if brand new. The orig…

I happpened to turn off the engine while coasting down the driveway, and I noticed that the brakes feel the same with or without the power assist. Is that correct? You wouldn't want to be without enough braking power. If the brakes should be more touchier with the engine running, then I think there might be a a problem with the check valve. thxZ

Anyone ever use these adapters for the 5-lug conversion on a S30? I would like to use these but want to make sure it does not have an adverse affect on my car. http://www.ezaccessory.com/Wheel_Adapter_4_Lug_4_5_To_5_Lug_4_5_p/4450-5450.htm

Sorry for the post on this, I have searched and done some reading on here and it actually made me want to post this even more afterward. I am going to buy some 15X7 Konig Rewinds from Motorsports. They state online to call for tire and wheel specials, which I did, He quoted me for the 15X7 along with 4 Toyo Proxes V-Rated 225/60-15 ready to mount for 987.80 plus freight. I asked him if there would be any rubbing and he said no, bolt right on. no issues. I told him that I also would be buying Tokico HP shocks and Eibach lowering springs. He then told me these would not rub with the one inch drop with the Eibachs. He also said the come with center caps with the Z logo…
