So I picked a direction for my rear disc brakes on my 240z project. After talking with Cody we decided the best long term fit would be to just upgrade to Wilwoods all the way around. The rear Wilwood upgrade offered by Silvermine has a separate mechanical handbrake caliper along with a four piston hydraulic caliper. New vented disc BP10 street pads New rotor versus the old rotor To install the the parking brake caliper this yellow zinc plate needs to be removed. The caliper will then bolt to the aluminum adapter plate that is is supplied by Silvermine. The antisqueal shims on the rear of the parking brake pads have to be removed…

I have another thread documenting the Wilwood rear brake install I did. In this thread I am going to document the front disc install. I am using the Wilwood Dynalights. The discs are the same front and back but the swept area of the pad is different. The front discs have also been drilled to match the bolt pattern of the hub. The new front calipers are very light. All aluminum. Here it is compared to the Toyota caliper Here is the starting point for my front brakes. I did have the Toyota caliper on and the dust shields have been trimmed Hub has to come off Then the dust shield needs to come off Then remove the bolts f…

Does anyone know if the 240SX and Maxima rear brake caliper used for rear disc conversion have the same bolt patterns and offsets? I had one of my Maxima rear calipers torn down in the shop. My dehumidifier went out during that time and it's got a good bit of rust in the bore. The Maxima calipers are not available anywhere. So was wondering if the 240SX caliper was a direct replacement?

I was bleeding my brakes when I ran into an issue with the front right. The bleeder was loose but held fluid. When I removed it I found that the threading was damaged and the seat on the valve was chewed up. I tried a new M10 1.0 valve and it would not seal. I'm going to have to get a new caliper but I don't know if I can identify what was used on this upgraded brake. It's a 4-piston but I'm not sure what to order. I also need pads so I want to make sure I get pads that match my other caliper along with the replacement caliper.

Got a Duralast M51837 brake master cylinder off a buddy of mine. It's supposedly a 15/16. When I measured the bore it is a little over 1". Would I be able to use this paired with a 280zx brake booster or is 1" too big?

Searching through the forum it looks like some issues with rear disc conversions are pretty common. I swapped out my rear drums in my 73 240 for the MSA rear disc kit and while the brake themselves workfine, my ebrake isn't catching now. The kit says it uses the stock cable, but I'm wondering if I need to swap out cables or perhaps theres something I haven't looked into?

I know wheel fit and size has been beaten to death and I have spent WAY too many hours on this and other forums reading old posts but I do have a timely questions regarding both. I'm ready to buy new wheels and think I have a good feel for wheel fit (leaning towards 15x8 zero offset) as I want to keep the stock suspension for now and also keep the fenders intact. The problem I think I'm running into here is that the availability of street tires in these relatively small tire sizes has really decreased in the last 3-5 years. Just clicking around on Tire Rack, there's a good selection of track tires in the small sizes but hardly any good high performance summer or…

Question? what are you guys doing for a spare tire? I will soon have new 17" wheels to go with my big brake kit and have realized that no spare is going to fit over the brakes??? Does anyone make just a steel wheel that would work? Thanks

I am getting close to being ready for tires. I have been looking at several options: 1. Kuhmo Ecsta PS31 215/55 R16 about $136 2. Continental Extreme contact DWS06 Plus 215/55 R16 about $151 3. Toyo R1R 225/50 R16 $181 (not available in the 215) As the title says, I am going to be running Rota RB's 16x7 with a +4 offset I am running Eibachs and am planning on an airdam up front. So no stock valence. I was thinking the 215's aught to clear the rear wheel arches. I really like the Toyo's but I am not sure they will clear and I don't want to deal with scrubbing right now. I might roll the fenders eventually but no time for it now. Questions…

I have a 11/70 car that I redid all the bushings, power coated the suspension, added Eibach lowering springs, and Koni yellow shocks. Now the rear wheels sound like absolute grinding hell when I try to move the car, and the E-brake no longer holds (I tried to adjust it). I don't know, but suspect the original style cylinders might not be working properly. Is changing to the 73 and up style a good 'upgrade' or should I try something else first? Thanks!
