I reciently purchased a 1971 datsun 240z with the L24 engine in it. I love the car and the body is in excellent condition, and with a little TLC it is going to be awesome. However, the engine is a little lacking for me. I have heard that there are popular conversion kits that allow for swaps with Ford and Chevy 302's. I know that JTR sells conversion kits, however, i was wondering if these are easy bolt-in conversions. If anyone has any experience I would greatly appreciate some feedback. -Mark

Hi, I was thinking of buying performance stuff for my 240 when I'm attempting it's rebuild. What can you get out of running something like a stage II cam, electric ignition, wider exhaust or what kind of basic upgrades do you suggest. I'm looking for things like the 0-60 and top speed when I ask "What can you get", but any info would be appreciated. Also is there are any better places to buy stuff other than MSA? Thanks, Roger

As the title suggests this is about the L20ET, in particular I am after information on the best mod's for these engines. I am after any first hand information on what you have done to one if you have ever owned or worked on one, what kind of power can they make with a decent bottom end and turbo, also how much porting and good cams that you know to work well. I have just recently bought one, L20ET that is, and the plan is to put it into a Z, which I don't yet have but when I do it will have a new friend to play with as soon as I get it home. I have not as yet set a budget for the build, I know that's bad but I am wanting to see first what they are capable of before i d…

I know this is chevy question but i really want to know since i plan on droppping it in my 73 z in about a month or so. Ok last year my dad and i put a 327 together. but we went back with a 350 crank. we used the old 327 rods. it worked out good and it runs great. my ? is whats the displacement. some people say it is a stroker or a destroker. but i think it is a 350 now. arent the rods the same lenght(327/350) . BTW the bore is the standard 4.0. I hope someone knows more than me but thats the easy part. thanks. OUT

Hi all, I am going into producing RB conversion parts and will be making them available for other RB swappers. This is to fit any RB engines into 240Z/260Z or 280Z (not ZX, but maybe the sump could be used) i.e. RB26DETT, RB25DET, RB20DET or their N/A versions. This is definite; I am getting a spare RB26DETT block at the end of the week to commence production of the sumps. 1st I am making modified oil sumps and oil pick up (sump needs to clear the steering rack and also clear the oil pick upas well), then engine mounts and gearbox mounts will follow soon afterwards. These parts will be exactly the same as the ones that I used for my own RB26DETT conversion, which you can…

First let me warn you this set-up is not in A Z. I just think this is worth looking at for someone who is thinking about A hot V-8 thats not your everyday street rod motor. As far as "cheap" with shoping around and not getting in A big rush this could be done for little $$$. http://www.sdsefi.com/features/dec00supra.htm :devious:

October 15, 2004 was the day I started the tear down and complete frame up restoration of a 260Z I bought of ebay on a whim for $900.00. Most of the build process is in my gallery...but I had to post these special. It was great to get it out and experience the results of 2 + Years of work, frustration, sweat, disappointments, planning, changes and $XX,XXX.XX. It was an awesome feeling to say the least. She is tight and wanting to go. Still some odds and ends to finish like the grill, hookup the sound system, work out some electrical bugs...but that is to be expected. I am definitely a big "old" kid with a brand new Christmas toy. Her she is. Her she is October 15t…

Hi all, I am looking for anything to do with the SCARAB modifications to the Z. They had quite a following in the 70's and I want to collect as much information as possible. A few years ago I saw a very nice Scarab conversion at the Motorsport Nationals. I'll find a link to the images and post them in this thread. But, if you have collected any data on this please post it. I would like to see original ads for the Scarab cars as well as any parts or specifications. Oh, and pictures!!!

I have a 78 Z w/ 82 ZXT engine that is almost ready for the road. The car runs extremely rich and I have exhausted all means of trying to remedy it myself. Does anyone know of someone in the S.W. Ohio/ N. Kentucy area who would be willing to help out. Thanks.
